In this frank and relevant interview, Matthew Feldman, one of the editors of the Political Religions section of Religion Compass talks with Ana Belén Soage, of the University of Granada. They candidly discuss the nature of contemporary and modern politicised Islam.

Soage argues that the so-called ‘moderate’ forms of politicised Islam differ from the more radical forms (epitomised by groups like Al Qaeda) in degree only, not in kind. Any form of Islamist movement, she argues, necessarily requires the formation of a ‘Pax Islamica’; an essentially totalitarian aim. Islamist movements are therefore inimical to democracy as commonly understood. She also sketches out a surprising profile of her typical Islamist, and explains why the term ‘Islamo-fascism’ is so offensive to ordinary Muslims.

The translation of the book "March of death" by Azerbaijani professor Rovshan Mustfayev about the crimes, committed by Armenians against Jews into English and Hebrew sheds light on the still little studied issue - the crime of Armenian nationalists against Jews, said director of the Institute "JC public relations research" Lev Spievak in his interview to Day.Az.

"As is known, the memory of victims of the disaster of the European Jews is an integral part of the Jewish self-consciousness in Israel", said he.

According to him, the country marks the day of state commemoration of the victims of Holocaust every year on April 21.

"Siren is heard in Israel on this day and people commemorate 6,000,000 of their compatriots, who were brutally killed just because they were Jews. The biggest memorial complex of Israel is a museum of the victims of Holocaust "Yad-va-shem", which is also the institute of the history of disaster and holds the complete information about this terrible tragedy for the next generations.

In this connection the scientific and historical importance of the said work is great. This is an influential name in the international scientific circles. "March of death" views the previously studied historical events under a completely new angle".

He noted that Alexey Pisman, Israeli historical and sociological scientist, described the importance of this scientific work the most exactly in the introduction to the English-Hebrew edition of the "March of Death":

"On the basis of this book by professor Mustafayev, we see the undoubtedly new scientific consideration and exposure of the global Armenian system of falsifications and lies, including in the attempts to join the genocide of Jews as people, who suffered equally, though facts prove the contrary - Armenians themselves incited and participated in committing the genocide of Jews, both historically and in the mid 20th century

The books, like "March of Death" must be introduced to a wide circle of scientists, public activists, simply members of the society to resist the flow of lie and falsifications of history, which the Armenian historical science has been engaged in for years".

According to Spievak, the proposal to create the joint Israeli-Azerbaijani commission to investigate murder of Mountain Jews of Azerbaijan by Armenians in 1918 was made at the presentation of the Russian edition of "March of Death" in Israel.

"This project is put off due to the preparations for presidential elections in Azerbaijan on the one hand and internal political events in Israel due to the upcoming municipal elections on the other hand. I suppose that the Israeli-Azerbaijani commission to investigate murder of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan in 1918 by Armenians will be created in 2009. The commission is proposed to include famous Azerbaijani and Israeli historians and anthropologists. This is a normal process.

As for the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan, his answer was laconic: "Ilham Aliyev is an extremely political personality and he can be considered the leader of the whole South Caucasus".

Some of the five Fatah operatives suspected of plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Ehud Olmert were members of the PA security forces and were meant to guard the prime minister's convoy, Chanel 2 quoted Israeli security officials as saying on Sunday.
Earlier Sunday, Shin Bet head Yuval Diskin informed the cabinet of the plot to fire at the prime minister's convoy during a trip to Jericho to meet with PA President Mahmoud Abbas on August 6.

To the Islamists of CAIR: How dare you exploit Americans' tolerance to your fascism?

Each now & then we are hit by another of a CAIR stunt, be it defending the flying Imams that were chanting pro Bin Laden slogans, or catagorizing as "hate" an enraged understandable student in Pace university [regardless if one agrees with his particular expression of: flushing the Quran down the toilet] over Islamists' actions against showing the 'Obsession' movie - that exposes Islamofascism & world Jihad.

The Islamists know us all too well, they know how Christian/Jews in America are so sensitive to human rights, to equality & to freedom, values that they never see in their dark Arab Muslim world.

If you follow CAIR's actions, you see the pattern of playing on Americans' kindness, so typically of Islamists as they are, their tactics are simple but cruel, make Americans feel bad so they will have to go that extra mile towards Muslims, take the 'flying Imams' case for example, don't they just love using the assumption of "innocent until proven guilty" on the expense of our vital security when it's a matter of life and death?

Well, of course this legal term still holds value in court, but if it really comes down to survival should anyone blink an eye when one hears "devout" Muslims praising Al Qaeda? I mean, how "innocent" can such "holy" imams be?

Their immediate goal: empower all Muslims including radicals!

Their long term goal, well, if you know what Caliphate, global domination & Islamization means, then you have the answer.

Let alone the enormous hypocrisy that these supporters of champions in hatred of non Muslims [like the MSA & pro-genocide fascist Hamas] are the ones that try to define the Pace university incident as a 'hate crime'.

Still, we can never figure out any basis on which a "moderate" status has been mistakenly attached to them by some, after all, their support for radical Jihadism like terror organizations such as: Hamas is all documented.

The zeal to build trust and greater understanding, though, has led to carelessness. During the past year, at least two dioceses, Cincinnati and Detroit, have co-hosted events with local chapters of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization with alarming ties to international terrorist groups.

In January of this year, Imam Dawud Walid, executive director of CAIR in Michigan, and Msgr. John Zenz, moderator of the Curia of the Archdiocese of Detroit, took turns addressing the topic of religion and violence at an interreligious forum. And twice last year, the Catholic Social Action Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati co-sponsored events with the Cincinnati chapter of CAIR.

CAIR has aggressively marketed itself as a "Moslem NAACP" since the terrorist attacks of September 11. Would that it were so. Steven Pomerantz, President Clinton's former chief of counterterrorism, has said "CAIR, its leaders and its activities effectively give aid to international terrorist groups."

An illuminating report from Daniel Pipes, a Middle East scholar and former member of the President's U.S. Institute for Peace, explains why Catholics should be wary of entering into dialogue with CAIR. Let's start with this interesting fact from the report: "At least five of [CAIR's] employees and board members have been arrested, convicted, deported, or otherwise linked to terrorism-related charges and activities."

Ties between CAIR and terrorist organizations are longstanding. The Holy Land Foundation, which the federal government has charged with channeling funds to Hamas, provided CAIR with some of its start-up funding a dozen years ago.

And CAIR's founding personnel were closely linked to the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP), which was begun by Ibrahim Abu Marzook, a senior Hamas operative. Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR's omnipresent communications director, was once an employee of IAP.
