Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi drew a connecting line yesterday between his visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, the Iranian nuclear program, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust and calls for Israel’s destruction.

As it races to acquire nuclear weapons, Iran makes clear that if there is any trouble, the Jews will be the first to suffer. "We have announced that wherever [in Iran] America does make any mischief, the first place we target will be Israel," said Gen. Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani, a top Revolutionary Guards commander. Hitler was only slightly more direct when he announced seven months before invading Poland that, if there was another war, "the result will be . . . the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe."

...Bernard Lewis, America's dean of Islamic studies, who just turned 90 and remembers the 20th century well, confessed that for the first time he feels it is 1938 again. He did not need to add that in 1938, in the face of the gathering storm -- a fanatical, aggressive, openly declared enemy of the West, and most determinedly of the Jews -- the world did nothing.

Iran: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has much in common with Adolf Hitler — hatred of Jews, warmongering, delusions of divine inspiration. Now add this: His own people have tried to blow him to smithereens.



After surviving the July 20, 1944, plot on his life at his field headquarters near Rastenburg (now Ketrzyn) in Poland, Hitler said: "I take this as confirmation of my assignment from Providence to continue to pursue my life's goal as I have done hitherto." Historians believe that afterwards nearly 5,000 people were executed by the Gestapo.



When the news spread of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad surviving a homemade bomb being tossed at his convoy in Hamedan in western Iran Wednesday, some Iranian opposition groups were acting as if Tehran's 21st century Gestapo, the Revolutionary Guards, might similarly come after them.



A representative of a faction of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, asked if his group was involved, told London's Daily Mail: "Absolutely not, absolutely not. It has nothing to do with us."



Indeed, Ahmadinejad recently declared, Fuhrer-like, that "the regime has only one party, which is the velayat" — a term used in many Islamic countries and derived from the Arabic for "to govern."



That's not too far removed from "ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer!"



And, like Hitler, Ahmadinejad and Iran's Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, have put their jackboots where their mouths are, successfully putting down the popular demonstrations last summer after Ahmadinejad's fraudulent re-election.



Of course, there were many attempts on Hitler's life, the most interesting being Georg Elser's planting of a homemade bomb at the Burgerbraukeller in Munich in late 1939, which detonated right on schedule but failed because Hitler chose not to be as long-winded as usual .



A carpenter of modest education, Elser was motivated by the deep resentment he felt over Nazi restrictions on German workers' freedom to organize themselves. Much the same kind of resentment has been on the rise among ordinary Iranians.



"It's far too early to say that it's the first stirring of a significant rebellion against the regime since last summer's post-election upheaval," the National Council of Resistance said several weeks ago of strike action organized by store owners in Tehran's traditional bazaar. "But unlike that upsurge, which involved millions of unhappy pro-reformist voters, this time it's the bazaar, Iran's commercial class, that is showing signs of unhappiness."



The opposition coalition also pointed out that "back in 1978, when the anti-Shah revolution got going, it was the bazaar that provided the muscle." The group added that "there could emerge an alliance between the bazaar, the clergy, and the reformists" and warned, "it's clear that something important is happening."

Rape is a cruel violation of a helpless victim. In addition to the physical torment involved, rape reduces the victim to subhuman status. Most civilized countries sternly legislate against, and prosecute rape and sexual assaults in prison. Under the barbaric rule of the Mullahcracy in Iran, however, sexual assaults have become instruments of policy for extracting false confessions, satisfying the boundless sadisms and sexual perversities of the jailers, punishing the helpless victim and leaving him with a sense of dehumanization.

This shockingly repugnant form of degradation, regrettably, has become widespread in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s prisons particularly in dealing with the young men and women arrested for the “crime” of peacefully demonstrating in the streets to demand accountability from the government for a raft of violations it has committed and continues to commit.

For the past 31-years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been denying and violating a long-suffering people of all its human rights. The regime is guilty of beating, torturing, raping, and killing prisoners of conscience—political, religious, intellectuals, artists and others.

Women, chronically oppressed and denied their basic human and family rights, have been the ones most viciously abused by the Islamic system and its hired plain clothes and Basij members. To maintain its suffocating rule, the regime metes out punishments reminiscent of the worst governments in the annals of human history. Amputation of hands and feet, blinding of eyes, hanging, and stoning victims after perfunctory trials in kangaroo courts without legal representation is common-place under the terror rule of the Islamists.

The regime has violated all norms of international human rights including issuing-very harsh penalties for even "victimless crimes" like fornication, expressing dissenting views in public places, homosexuality, apostasy, and for women who do not wear the hejab in accordance with the dictates of regime's morality police.

The record of the regime is replete with instances of child executions, restrictions on freedom of speech and the press, the imprisonment of journalists, and discrimination against women in general, and the persecution of religious minorities with a particular systematic program of genocide against the Baha’is and the Baha’i religion. The regime has ruled over a peaceful people with an iron fist while committing some of the most heinous of crimes .

After enduring more than three decades of the Islamic regime, the great majority of the Iranian people decided to cast their ballots in last year's presidential elections in the hope of affecting change in the system. The Islamic government completely accustomed to doing whatever it wishes and ignoring the people, stole the election and declared the incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner. The blatant violation of this basic right to vote infuriated the long-suffering masses who poured into the streets by the millions, demanding their votes be honored. The response of the regime was to beat the demonstrators, arresting many and subjecting a great number to a raft of harsh treatments in prisons.

In a letter addressed to Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the former president and the current head of the powerful Assembly of Experts, Hojat-ol-eslam Mehdi Karroubi, a former speaker of the Majlis (Parliament) and a reformist candidate in the last year's presidential elections, demanded an immediate investigation into the reports that a number of detainees had been raped during the illegal incarceration.

Mr. Karroubi wrote, "Some of those arrested [as a result] of the unrest claim that detained girls have been sexually assaulted with... brutality.”

"The young men in detention were also sexually assaulted in such a way that some are now suffering from depression and other physical and psychological problems, and are incapable of even leaving their homes," he added. "A number of detainees have stated that some female detainees were so severely raped that their genitals were damaged. Others savagely raped young boys so that they suffer from all sorts of depression and serious physical and mental damage," Karroubi said in a letter.

Human Rights Watch also has documented cases of sexual assault in the Islamic republic prisons on individuals arrested since the fraudulent June 12, 2009 presidential election. In the most recent case, the medical examiner's office confirmed the injuries suffered in prison by Ebrahim Mehtari, a young activist, resulted from torture and mistreatment consistent with his allegations of sexual abuse. But the Judiciary authorities refused to conduct further inquiries and instead threatened Mehtari and his family with severe repercussions if they ever spoke up regarding the sexual abuse. Mr. Mehtari is living outside of Iran now.

Another young activist, 24-year old Ebrahim Sharifi, is a very brave young man who was arrested on June 23, after the fraudulent presidential elections in Iran, told Human Rights Watch that he had been raped in detention while he was handcuffed, blindfolded and his feet were tied, and that he had attempted suicide several times after his release. He said that judiciary officials had refused to accept his complaint and told him that if he spoke out about his case his family would be in danger.

The third case involved is Maryam Sabri, a 21-year old girl, who was arrested on July 30th during the commemoration of the 40th day after the killing of Neda Agha Sultan- whose shooting death during a demonstration shocked the entire world. Sabri was arrested after her photo appeared on a website connected to the IRGC that posted photos of protesters and asked people to identify the people in the pictures so that they could be arrested. Before she was released on August 12, Sabri says, she was raped four times by the jailers.

“On August 9, in a letter published in the Etemad Melli paper, the reformist presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi wrote that some detained individuals stated that some authorities have raped detained women with such force, they have sustained injuries and tears in to their reproductive system."

In another high profile case, a 19-year old woman Taraneh Mousavi was not shot with a single bullet to her chest as was the case with Neda Agha Sultan. There were no bystanders in the dungeon with a cell phone to capture the prolonged torture, rape, and sodomy of this teen-ager.

According to reports, as well as a speech on the floor of the US House of representatives from Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, on June 28, 2009, Taraneh Mousavi, a young Iranian woman, was literally scooped off the streets without any provocation on her part and with no arrest warrant. She was taken to one of the regime’s torture chambers where she was repeatedly brutalized, raped, and sodomized by the supreme leader, Ali Khameni's agents.

Near death from repeated beating, raping and sodomizing, the fragile young woman, bleeding profusely from her rectum and womb, was transferred to a hospital in Karaj near Tehran. Eventually, an anonymous person notified Taraneh’s family that she had had an “accident” and had been taken to the hospital.

The devastated family rushed to the hospital only to find no trace of their beloved daughter because Khameni's foot-soldiers decided to eliminate all traces of their savagery. They decided to remove the dying woman from the hospital before the family’s arrival, burned her beyond recognition and dumped her charred remains on the side of the road.

Like Neda, another young woman whose chest was ripped by the bullet of a murdering Basij member as she peacefully walked along with a throng of peaceful demonstrators, Taraneh’s tragedy gives a glimpse of the true face of Islamic fascism and its brutality. What has been done to the Taranehs and Nedas of Iran shall remain as eternal testaments to the depravity of the Islamic regime and the horrors it has visited on innocent people. And these young victims of the regime's tyranny are by no means isolated cases. Tragically, women as a gender bear the brunt of Islamic misogyny. Women are systematically exploited, maltreated and denied from their God-given rights.

A regime that subjects its own people to boundless viciousness is showing the world its willingness to commit any crime to intimidate others and to undertake any action that would keep it in power. The Islamic Republic of Iran represents devastation and death if not immediately disempowered by all people and nations that value the Universal Human Rights for all. It is timely to bring to mind the warning of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. The Islamic Republic of Iran is indeed a miscarriage of justice, a cruel repressive rule, and an imminent threat not only to Iranians but to the world at large.

a young Israeli student at Hebron University was gunned down while jogging through a mixed neighborhood of Jews and Arabs. The al Aqsa Brigade, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yassir Arafat's Fatah movement, joyously claimed credit for the killing of yet another innocent Jew. When it was later learned that the jogger was an Arab-Israeli and not a Jew, al Aqsa quickly apologized to the family, calling it an accident. But the killing of the innocent young jogger was not an accident; the murderer had deliberately taken aim at his head and midsection, intending to end his life. The only thing accidental about the murder was the religion of the victim. The al Aqsa Brigade had sent the assassin to murder a Jew - any Jew, so long as he was a Jew.

This is racism, pure and simple. And despite efforts by supporters of Palestinian terrorism to justify the murder of innocent civilians as national liberationor by any other euphemism, this case proves that the Palestinian terrorists targeting of Jews and only Jews - as many as possible - is little different in intent than other forms of lethal or exterminatory anti-Jewish murders (I dont use the term anti-Semitic only because some Arabs claim that because they too are Semites, they cant be anti-Semitic). Obviously the numbers are different, because Israel is capable of defending its Jewish citizens, but if it were not, the goal of Palestinian terrorist groups would not be very different from that of previous groups intent on murdering as many Jews as possible.

Ex-German chancellor, in Iran, says “Holocaust a fact”

TEHRAN, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Visiting former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder criticised on Saturday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for casting doubt over the Holocaust, saying the slaughter of 6 million Jews by Nazis was a fact.

Since coming to power in 2005, Ahmadinejad has provoked international condemnation for saying the Holocaust was a “myth” and calling Israel a “tumour” in the Middle East.

“The Holocaust is a historic fact and there is no sense in denying this unparalleled crime,” Schroeder told the Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

“Iran needs to take responsibility and respect international rules, if it wants to be taken seriously as a regional power.”

Schroeder, due to meet Ahmadinejad in Tehran later on Saturday, also criticised the hardline leader for his views on Israel which Iran has refused to recognise since its 1979 Islamic revolution.

• Over the past several years, Iranian leaders – most prominently, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – have made numerous statements calling for the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people. While certain experts have interpreted these statements to be simple expressions of dissatisfaction with the current Israeli government and its policies, in reality, the intent behind Ahmadinejad’s language and that of others is clear.
• What emerges from a comprehensive analysis of what Ahmadinejad actually said – and how it has been interpreted in Iran – is that the Iranian president was not just calling for “regime change” in Jerusalem, but rather the actual physical destruction of the State of Israel. When Ahmadinejad punctuates his speech with “Death to Israel” (marg bar Esraiil), this is no longer open to various interpretations.
• A common motif of genocide incitement is the dehumanization of the target population. The Nazi weekly Der Stürmer portrayed Jews as parasites and locusts. Ahmadinejad said in a speech on October 26, 2005: “In the Middle East, they [the global powers] have created a black and filthy microbe called the Zionist regime.”
• Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who succeeded Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989, has made statements about Israel similar to Ahmadinejad. On December 15, 2000, he declared on Iranian TV: “Iran’s position, which was first expressed by the Imam [Khomeini] and stated several times by those responsible, is that the cancerous tumor called Israel must be uprooted from the region.”
• Michael Axworthy, who served as the Head of the Iran Section of Britain’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, notes that when the slogan “Israel must be wiped off the map” appeared “draped over missiles in military parades, that meaning was pretty clear.”
• There is an ample legal basis for the prosecution of Ahmadinejad in the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court for direct and public incitement to commit genocide and crimes against humanity.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - European Union nations approved new sanctions against Iran on Monday, including an assets freeze of the country's biggest bank.


The Bank of Melli is suspected of providing services to Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs and was blacklisted by the United States last year.

The EU said it will also announce Tuesday additional financial and travel sanctions — effective immediately — on several Iranian companies and "senior experts" linked to Tehran's nuclear program.

The 27-nation bloc is also studying sanctions against Iran's oil and gas sector — but such a step would probably take several months to implement, diplomats say.

Monday's sanctions were formally adopted without debate at the beginning of EU talks in Luxembourg. EU leaders agreed on the measure at talks in Brussels on Friday.

Western nations fear Iran's uranium enrichment program could be used to make a nuclear bomb. Iran insists its enrichment work is intended to produce fuel for nuclear reactors that would generate electricity and has vowed to push ahead with uranium enrichment.

The EU's foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, held unsuccessful talks with Iranian officials in Tehran last week in the latest diplomatic overture aimed at convincing them to accept an offer of economic incentives in return for an end to its uranium enrichment program.

In Tehran, independent analyst Saeed Laylaz said the freezing of Bank Melli's assets would lead to the Iranian economy becoming more isolated and more dependent on Chinese products.

But he suggested President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might stand to benefit. Targeting Iran "drives inflation up," Laylaz said, "but it helps Ahmadinejad's government hide its failures behind the sanction."

With the exception of Al Qaeda, no terrorist organization on earth is responsible for the deaths of more Americans than Hizballah: The group that drew first blood during its formative years when in 1983 one of its suicide bombers drove a truck packed with explosives into the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 Americans.

Unlike Al Qaeda, however, Hizballah is more than simply a terror network or a loose confederation of terrorist cells: Hizballah is a state-funded terrorist army with a sophisticated propaganda arm and operational teams deployed worldwide. Not surprisingly, Hizballah is on the U.S. State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations. Yet some Western media — even a few American politicians — have openly defended Hizballah (as well as its parent company, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) as a legitimate force and political movement.

Last November, during a presidential campaign speech, Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) said:

“In order to declare the Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization — something we’ve never done before for a government-run militia — [Pres.] Bush was supported by the Senate. Many in our party opposed this vote, like Senator Dodd and Senator Biden, and I applaud them for that.”
Two months earlier in an interview on Hezbollah-owned Al Manar TV, former Sen. James Abourezk (D.-SD), long-time compatriot of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D.-SD), said:

“I actually marveled at the Hizballah resistance to Israel [during the 2006 war], … It was a marvel of organization, of courage and bravery. I thought it was quite something. … The Lebanese army should ask Hizballah to come and organize it, to train them, you know. And all the Arab armies should have the Hizballah come and do that.”

Hizballah (in Arabic, “Party of God”) is a Shiia military force based in Lebanon; trained, equipped, and heavily financed by Iran, specifically the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; and backed by Syria.

Born as of means of expanding Iran’s Islamic Revolution throughout the Middle East, Hizballah developed over the course of the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) into an armed force and global terrorist enabler with tremendous political and media influence in Lebanon.

Hezballah calls itself a “resistance [against Israel]” — not a “militia” — which is nothing more than semantics. — Hizballah’s wordplay is a means by which it continues to exist — as an armed entity in defiance of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1559 and 1701, which call for the disarming of all “militias” in Lebanon. In truth, Hizballah is neither resistance nor militia: it is a standing army with a growing base of operations and an expanding arsenal that includes military grade missiles, anti-aircraft and anti-armor weapons, all manner of small arms and explosives, even unmanned aerial vehicles for battlefield reconnaissance.

Hizballah also “relies” upon its corps of assassins, which its leaders deny, and suicide bombers, which they admit. “The weapon of martyrdom is the main and pivotal weapon on which we can rely,” writes Hizballah’s deputy secretary general Naim Qassem in “Hizballah: The Story from Within.”

These terrorists operate freely throughout much of Lebanon, beyond the authority of the legitimate army and police. And as more than one shoulder-shrugging Lebanese Army general (many still deferring to Damascus) has told me: “Hizballah was here first.”

Hizballah is also first in terms of violence. And that violence — actual and threatened — has factored heavily into the Lebanese parliament’s inability to elect a president over the past several months. Armed to the teeth, Hizballah maintains absolute control over a multi-block suburb of Beirut. They are actively training in the Bekaa Valley. They recently conducted military maneuvers in south Lebanon — ignoring a UN “peacekeeping” force — on ground where they fought a tough summer war with Israel in 2006.

Their expressed goal is nothing less than the destruction of Israel, the United States, and the West. “Our motto which we are not afraid to repeat year after year is ‘Death to America,’” said Hizballah’s secretary general Hassan Nasrallah in a 2005 speech.

Hizballah also has global reach, and dozens of Hizballah cells have been uncovered since 9/11 inside U.S. cities like Charlotte (N.C.), Detroit, and Los Angeles.

Like any effective wartime army, Hizballah has learned the importance of an ongoing disinformation campaign. In Lebanon, Hizballah is heavily involved in telecommunications, including control of at least one major telephone hub in Beirut which international calls pass through. Hizballah controls much of the media — print and broadcast — and they have infiltrated newsrooms, manipulated previously objective editorial desks, and bought Western correspondents based in that country. In fact, Hizballah’s media agents often marginally criticize Hizballah as a means of making themselves appear legitimate: “Trying to wash their faces,” as some Lebanese say.

Hizballah is at war with us. Lebanon is their base. As such, the country is a critical front in the war on terror. I’m not advocating a U.S. invasion of Lebanon, but neither can we afford to put our heads in the sand and hope Hizballah will dissipate. Hizballah is perhaps the world’s largest globally deployed terrorist army. Hizballah is powerful, sophisticated, committed, and growing. They are violent, deceiving us in the media, and their operators are already in the Americas.
