The attacks on non-Muslims in non-Islamic countries continue to rise. Just a few days ago a Catholic girl was killed in the UK for dating a Muslim. Recent attacks in the US include the Washington attack on a man because he is gay, the Philadelphia subway hammer attack, the attacks at the

hospital in Minneapolis, and the Israeli man attacked by Arabs in NY. The latest attack is on Jewish students watching a concert at a pro-Israel event at Berkeley College. The Jewish students were assaulted, called dogs and threatened with death by up to 20 Arabic students. At then end of it all the Muslims do what they usually do, they played the victim card. One of fights was broken up by a Senator at the school. For this the Muslims are filing a petition to get him removed from the college office.

Arab Students at UC Berkeley Disrupt Israel Event, Attack Jews

Arab students disrupted a pro-Israel event at the campus of the University of California at Berkeley Thursday night, unfurling a large Palestinian flag in front of a crowd of hundreds of supporters of Israel who were enjoying a pro-Israel hip-hop concert. The event was sponsored by the Zionist Freedom Alliance student group.



The Arab students unfurled the large flag on a balcony above the outdoor site where the concert was taking place, inciting a provocation right in front of the concert-goers, who were enjoying the event as part of the campus' Israel Liberation Week. Several Jewish concertgoers went into the building to ask the Arabs to remove the flag – but were viciously attacked, with one male concert goer knocked down from a blow on the back of his head, witnesses said.



College alumnus Gabe Weiner, who was helping run the concert, was assaulted by the leader of the anti-Israel group, Husam Zakharia, who also attacked one of the performers, Yehuda De Sa. The fight was finally broken up by John Moghtader, a senator in the UC Berkelely student organization. Police were called in and arrested Zakharia along with others from his group, charging them with battery. Witnesses said that the Arab students shouted anti-Semitic curses and epithets throughout the incident, calling the Jews “Nazis” and “dogs,” and threatening to kill them. According to one witness, as many as 20 anti-Israel students participated in the attacks.



In a statement, the Zionist Freedom Alliance said “we call on state officials, the President of the University of California, the Chancellor, the Dean of Students, faculty, and the student body to take a unified stand against the continued harassment of Jewish and pro-Israel students on this campus, particularly by members of Students for Justice in Palestine,” the anti-Israel group whose leaders began the incitement and attacked the concertgoers.



Pro-Israel students at UC Berkeley have long complained of the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic harassment they have been subject to. Tikvah, a Jewish student group at the college, displayed on its web site numerous examples of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic graffiti, with anti-Israel elements defacing property with their screed. Jewish students complained that the only media coverage given to the event, in the Berkeley campus newspaper, was one sided. “Funny how the battery citation against Husam of SJP isn't even mentioned [in the article], and the comment which purports to be from an objective bystander is actually from one of the top people in Students for Justice in Palestine,” commented Ariel, one of the concertgoers.



Meanwhile, the anti-Israel group is planning to file a petition to remove from office Moghtader, who tried to break up the fight.

As Muslim Student Association (MSA) chapters have become increasingly influential at universities and colleges around the country, critics have charged that it is a hate group that sympathizes with the international jihad and promulgates an anti-American and anti-Semitic ideology in its campus actions. In response, the MSA has claimed that it is merely another religious and cultural group similar to Hillel, a club for Jewish students, or the Newman Club for Catholics. That deception has been now unmasked at the University of Southern California, where the school’s Provost, Chrysostomos L. Max Nikias, reacting to a call from the David Horowitz Freedom Center and the Simon Wiesenthal Center, has ordered the campus MSA to remove a “despicable” hadith calling for Muslims to murder Jews as a condition for redemption from its website.

David Horowitz, President of the Freedom Center, hails this as a breakthrough moment when the double standards that control the political and intellectual culture of most universities have finally been challenged. “Up to now, the slightest criticism of radical Islam on campus has been slammed as ‘Islamophobia,’ while Muslim groups and their radical fellow travelers have been allowed to say the most hateful things imaginable about Christians and Jews without any reaction from university administrators whatsoever,” Horowitz says. “Provost Nikias has called the hadith on the MSA website for what it is: despicable. Given the atmosphere that prevails on most campuses today, it was an act of integrity on his part to make this call and to demand that the MSA live up to basic standards of civility that should govern the university.”

The hadith (sacred teaching) reads as follows:

“Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him….”

Islamofascism Week is over, but not the controversy.

However, unless one has maintained a 24-hour existence in a remote cave somewhere in the hinderlands of some remote jungle, how can any rational human being deny the role Islam plays in 21st century terrorism? What is it about the Left that brings them to defend radical Islam and refuse to admit that it is indeed extreme fascism with an extreme propensity for terrorism and intolerance? What is it about the term "Islamofascism" that brings the Left to refuse to acknowledge it as representative of militant Islam? Is it the case, as Jamie Kirchick's suspects (hat tip JPost.com), "that the Left's aversion to the use of 'Islamofascism' has much to do with the simple fact that Islam is a non-Western religion, supposedly comprised of the wretched of the earth, and thus, a different standard must apply to its most fanatical adherents, whose real motivation must, at 'root' be a legitimate anti-imperialist impulse"?

Or is the Left simply off the reservation of reality - as usual?

As Petra Marquardt-Bigman points out at JPost.com, in the war of words, the front lines are drawn clearly enough: employing the term Islamofascism is just a "conservative smear tactic", and as Jeff Jacoby once documented, for the truly dedicated practitioners of political correctness, no verbal contortion is too grotesque to avoid having "Islam" or "Muslim" appear anywhere near the word "terrorism":

... it is by no means true that the resemblance between the fascist and totalitarian ideologies of the 20th century and Islamist extremism has been acknowledged only by conservative or right-wing writers. Indeed, several writers with impeccable leftist credentials have published books on the subject, most prominent among them perhaps Paul Berman's Terror and Liberalism (2003). But as some of Berman's critics have demonstrated, substance counts little in the sound and fury of political debate, and anybody who argues that Islamism has fascist or totalitarian traits will have to resign himself to be denounced as a neo-con Bush supporter, no matter how strongly he has stated different positions.In the current controversy about Islamofascism, Christopher Hitchens has once again explained why this term is an entirely valid one to describe contemporary jihadist ideology. Focusing on the often expressed criticism that any comparison between jihadism and fascism is ahistorical, Hitchens lists several striking similarities: "Both movements are based on a cult of murderous violence that exalts death and destruction and despises the life of the mind. [...] Both are hostile to modernity (except when it comes to the pursuit of weapons), and both are bitterly nostalgic for past empires and lost glories. Both are obsessed with real and imagined 'humiliations' and thirsty for revenge. Both are chronically infected with the toxin of anti-Jewish paranoia". Moreover, Hitchens notes that calls to re-establish the caliphate are reminiscent of Hitler's ambitions for a German "Reich" or Mussolini's fantasies about reviving the Roman empire.

Hitchens concludes his list of comparisons arguing that it is "in some ways encouraging" that both fascism and jihadism have some sort of self-destructive "death wish" since "both of them stress suicidal tactics and sacrificial ends, just as both of them would obviously rather see the destruction of their own societies than any compromise with infidels".

Indeed, this easily brings to mind the often fondly repeated assertion of Hamas politicians that they are "not seekers of office, but seekers of martyrdom". But if history is any guide, the self-destruction of such movements tends to entail so much destruction for everybody else that there is hardly anything "encouraging" about it.

Like I've said, what is it about about the term Islamofascism that fails to describe radical Islamism?As Denis Prager notes in his piece today, Muslim student groups and other Muslim organizations joining with the left in the ad hominem condemnation of Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week was most unfortunate. Many Muslims know well that there is indeed such a thing as Islamo-Fascism, and they should be the first to join in fighting it. It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists.

And it is the Left that is helping the Islamofascists do the sullying ....

Islamo-fascism Awareness Week is not about racism, bigotry, Islamo-phobia or a claim that all Muslims are radical and seek to harm those who don’t agree with them. It is to raise awareness about the growing group who are.

Islamo-fascists are a group whose deadly fascistic ideology has affected close to every country on the globe, made almost 9,000 attacks since September 11, 2001, and now kills about 1,300 people per year.

Nonie Darwish vs. Berkeley Left On “Islamo-Fascism” (And Immigration)

Here in my home town of Berkeley, the capital of the Left Coast, the courageous Nonie Darwish, the Palestinian-born author of Now they Call Me Infidel; Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel and the War on Terror, was scheduled to speak in the lion's den of UC Berkeley on Monday. So I made my way to campus after serious coffee-loading.

(See photos of the daytime prelude posted by California Patriot. Green t-shirts reading "Peace not Prejudice" in Islamic green were a popular item with the leftist groupthink cadres opposing her.)

I arrived early, before the public was allowed into the room. I told the fellow at the door, a College Republican, that I was from VDARE.com and he said, "Go on in." Cool.

The Berkeley College Republicans, local sponsors of the talk, call themselves "the new free speech movement". How true!

There were several Berkeley police in the hall and one who remained in the room throughout—a good thing since there were several hostile outbursts which led to the removal of hecklers by police. It was hard enough to listen under such conditions, but speaking when people are screaming "racist" at you must be supremely challenging.

Fortunately, Nonie Darwish is passionate and dedicated. She told the audience the story of her life, and wove her opinions around what she has experienced as a daughter of Islam. She was raised in a traditional Muslim home and was taught in school in Gaza that she should hate Jews and Christians. That message was the first indication to her that something was wrong with Islam.

She immigrated to the United States in 1978 and is now a citizen. She cherishes the freedom accorded to her in this country, particularly as a woman. During the 30 years she lived in Arab society she saw honor killings of girls, oppression of women, polygamy and multi-wifing's devastating effect on family relations. She that said her mother's generation in Egypt were all subjected to clitoridectomy, but that this horrific practice has now nearly ended there. (So there is a glimmer of positive change to report in the Arab world!)

Darwish’s lecture was one of dozens of lectures at colleges and universities around the country being sponsored by the Zionist David Horowitz Freedom Center as part of its Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week to combat the leftist political correctness which has overtaken many campuses like a brain-eating bacteria. (Watch a trailer from Indoctrinate U to get an idea of the Stalinist conformity that passes for intellectual discourse in the ivy halls these days.)

The events are providing a view into how infiltrated America's campuses have become with textbook-carrying jihadists and their allies. If the squawking in response to a few lectures is any indication, the situation is very bad indeed.

The far left campus community has taken the side of America-hating Muslims and condemned what it deemed a "crazy campaign against decency, reason and open dialogue" and offered a response kit to fend off any challenging thoughts. Rather than discuss honestly the genuine danger presented by hostile Islamists residing in America, leftists characterized concerned conservatives and other realists as marching Nazis. The left has enthusiastically embraced Islam, the reigning world champ of bloodthirsty cruelty. Whatever happened to the left supporting women's rights and uplifting the oppressed? Or were those issues always a pose?

Today only diversity of skin color and ethnicity count for anything with the left. Crazy ideologies have made campuses into very expensive insane asylums, where the inmates get degrees instead of release.

An Al Jazeera reporter asked Darwish: "Do you know that you are the most hated women in the Arab world?" (Al Jazeera is known as Jihad TV for attitudes like that.)

However, it is an irony that the question was asked. Darwish is a huge defender of Arab people. She said more than once that she still loves her culture of origin and wants Arabs to realize their violence and absence of critical thinking are self-destructive as well as harmful to others.

Some critics of Islam, particularly JihadWatch’s Robert Spencer, have traced the origin of jihad within the Koran and other basic texts. For a "religion of peace," Islam certainly does contain of lot of admonitions to smite the infidel. In addition, Spencer and others have noted the historical connections between modern Islam and 20th century fascism. During WWII, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al Husseini, was openly pro-Hitler.

But Nonie Darwish is not one of those who regard Islam's problems as foundational. She believes that the majority of Muslims living in America are peace-loving and enjoy the freedoms available here: "Militants are ruining the good name of Islam." But she has criticized Arabs residing in America for their silence regarding the terror and chaos spread in the name of Allah.

She blamed Arab media and politicians for constantly railing about America and Israel, while ignoring atrocities committed by Muslims. Arabs are too busy "fighting imaginary Jews of their own creation" to hold up a self-critical mirror to Islamic societies. "None of them knew Saddam Hussein gassed his own people… Arab media never reported it."

And in case anyone does notice the rot of Islam, leaving the religion as an apostate is punishable by death.

Furthermore, sharia law is a perfect fit with the totalitarian state. Islam seeks to control life down to the most infinitesimal details. (See Foreign Policy's List of Stupidest Fatwas for a taste of Islam's picky rule-making on everything.)

Darwish warned that Saudi money allows Muslims to use college campuses "to intimidate and spread hate." There are programs of Islamic studies in every university in America, but no parallel offerings in Arab countries.

Instead, they felt a compulsion to shriek insults at a middle-aged woman who, unlike them, has actually lived in an oppressive society. The deranged heckler chorus looked like they needed cult deprogramming.

Sadly, truly free speech exists today on the Berkeley campus only for Stalinist ideology.
