To Our Readers: Feb. 28, 1994 - TIME Feb 28, 1994...
The decision to pursue an in-depth investigation of this subject was prompted by the anti-Semitic and otherwise racist speech that Farrakhan's aide, Khallid Muhammad, gave at Kean College in New Jersey. The story was newsworthy in large part because it came just as some mainstream black groups were attempting to form a constructive alliance with Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam. News of the speech loosed a flash flood of reportage and commentary on the subject, and at that time we began the kind of weeks-long investigation a cover story like this one requires. At the same time, we published an article on one telling aspect of the larger story: the fact that some black leaders were offended when whites called on them to denounce racism in other black leaders...

Shouting pickets protest attention to Farrakhan - Baltimore Sun
June 13, 1994 | By Ivan Penn | Sun Staff Writer
A boisterous group of 60 people, marching and waving picket signs, voiced its opposition yesterday to the NAACP for inviting Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan to its summit of African-American community leaders.
Spurred on by Jewish activists and a former NAACP assistant director, the crowd chanted slogans, including "Don't embrace the racist; Farrakhan is a racist," outside the headquarters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

CLEAVER: I think the Million Man March will go down in history as the defining episode for a generation of people and I know Minister Farrakhan personally and have known him for years. And my overall decision on Farrakhan is that the Afro-American people are not going to follow him anywhere and as General Colin Powell said in his famous commencement address at Howard University, he said that after what we've been through and after coming this far we cannot afford to take a detour through the swamps of hatred and that is the Achilles heel of Farrakhan is that the doctrine of the Nation of Islam is a racist doctrine and the Afro-American people are not racist people. We are anti-racist people.

And
The Nation of Islam (NOI)The Nation Of Islam was founded by W D Fahd, who claimed to be a prophet and who held strong anti-white views.
Elijah Muhammad was of the first leaders of the group. He assisted in the development of NOI's bizarre ideology that black people originated from the Moon whilst whites were the result of a botched experiment by a mad scientist (Searchlight December 1997).
Louis Farrakhan was previously known as Louis Eugene Walcott.
Joined the Nation of Islam (NOI) in 1955 and by the end of 1960 was a minister at the Nation's Boston mosque.
Farrakhan was a protege of Malcolm X describing him as "the father he never had".
However following Malcolm's departure from NOI Farrakhan said"…Such a man as Malcolm is worthy of death." According To HQ magazine on the February 21 1965 three NOI gunmen murdered Malcolm X. Furthermore, Farrakhan was allegedly accused by the widow of Malcolm X that he was involved in her husband's murder.
Farrakhan's racist comments and ideologies date back to 1972 where he made his anti-Semitic and black separatist views known in a Black Muslim publication, "Muhammed Speaks".
He claimed that "Since the Jews are in control of the mass media, newspapers, television, radio, we knew then that we could begin to look for a concerted attack on Nation of Islam though the mass media." (Muhammed Speaks 12 May 1972)
Whites, Jews, Catholics and gays are subject to attack as well as blacks that work within the ‘white system’. At a rally in 1985 Farrakhan decried "…we will tar and feather them" and "We will hang them from the highest limb, we will chop off their heads and roll them down the streets."
NOI’s Association with Far-Right Groups
NOI's extremism of views has led to a series of bizarre allegiances with other far right contemporise that included the Klu Klux Klan and neo-Nazi type organisations.
In early 1961 NOI and the KKK had a meeting in Atlanta, Georgia in the US. Both Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X a NOI leader met KKK dignitaries. The two groups came to the joint opinion that parts of South Carolina and Georgia in the United States should become a black homeland with KKK holding state power. (Searchlight December 1997).
Louis Farrakhan has shared a platform at an NOI meeting with members of the American Nazi Party in full dress regalia seated as honoured guests. The NOI publicly accepted donations from a former KKK leader who went on to lead the White Aryan Resistance.
The NOI also holds affiliation with the far-right National Front in Britain. In 1988 the NOI used the Front to import and distribute NOI's "The Final Call" in Britain.
The NOI are also stockists of racist literature, including the infamous Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the conspiracy laden The Jews And Their Lies, as well as The Secret relationship between the Blacks and the Jews whose premise is that Jews were solely responsible for the killing of 100,000,000 blacks during the slave trade. The group also publishes the notorious anti-Semitic forgery the Protocols of The Elders Of Zion.
The Nation Of Islam operates numerous security contracts (through its security arm the Fruits of Islam) worth millions of dollars, publishes "The Final Call" as well provides numerous other extremist literature. The groups also sells hair and beauty products and runs chains of health clinics.

-Khalid Abdul Muhammad, Baltimore, MD, February 19, 1994
"Your [whites] history is written in the blood of the human family. It comes out of you like a web comes out of a spider. Murder and lying comes easy for white people….Your history is shedding the blood of all human beings and you came lying to us, deceiving us, then killing us."

What is the Nation of Islam?
Submitted on 23 March, 2006 - 15:38
How to beat the racists
The Nation of Islam (NoI) was founded in 1930 as a peculiar fusion of Islam and a conservative variant of black nationalism.
The NoI considered whites to be devils and that the answer to American racism was the promotion of black business, racial separation and the creation of a black state.
Black historian Manning Marable describes how the NoI came to be “re-founded" by Louis Farrakhan in 1981:
“[In the 1970s] Most black radicals, influenced heavily by Malcolm X's public separation from and feud with the Nation in 1964-65, still viewed the organisation with a great deal of scepticism.
“… [Elijah] Muhammad [NoI leader] attempted to establish closer links with the US government and other foreign interests in an effort to resolve his group's ongoing political and economic troubles. By making peace with Chicago's political boss, Richard Daley, the Nation was able to eliminate most of the police surveillance and harassment against the sect.
“Imitating the FBI, Nation of Islam members in Philadelphia destroyed that city's Black Panther Party headquarters in retaliation for the group's public advocacy of Malcolm X's ideas.
“In 1972, Muhammad negotiated a $3 million interest-free loan from [Libyan dictator] Colonel Muamar Kadafi which was used to expand Black Muslim enterprises. Despite these gains, the Nation of Islam was still plagued by internal dissension.
“One of the Nation's most dynamic and powerful ministers, Hamaas Abdul Khaalis (Ernest McGhee) denounced the Nation as a corruption of the true faith, Sunni Islam, in 1972. Khaalis declared that Muhammad was ‘a lying deceiver' and stated that their leader ‘who inspired former dope addicts and prostitutes to monklike lives of sacrifice, discipline and hard work, was instead stealing his followers' money and leading them to hell'. For devout defenders of Muhammad, Khaalis' challenge could not remain unanswered. On 18 January 1973, at least five armed gunmen, all members of the Nation of Islam, entered Khaalis' Washington, DC, home and butchered five members of his family.
"With Muhammad's death in 1975, the leadership of the Nation of Islam passed to one of his sons, Wallace. Quickly and efficiently, Wallace Muhammad ‘Malcolmised' the [sect … a] mixture of racial mythology and religious dogma promulgated by Elijah Muhammad was abandoned in favour of the orthodox teachings of Islam; whites were permitted to attend services and in some instances even joined the group…
“Yet these dramatic changes did not occur without more dissension. Louis Farrakhan, perhaps the most charismatic minister in the Nation after the departure of Malcolm X, had quietly left the Nation by 1978. In February 1981, Farrakhan announced the creation of the ‘old’ NoI under his direction, following the tenets of Elijah Muhammad. Several thousand blacks soon flocked to Farrakhan’s group." (Race Reform and Rebellion, p 177-8)
The following Farrakhan has built up since 1978 is particularly suprising because of the part he played in the NoI’s feud with Malcolm X. In December 1964, writing as Louis X, Farrakhan wrote, “Malcolm shall not escape… Malcolm is worthy of death." Malcolm was shot down two months later in February 1965.
In 1994, Malcolm’s widow, Betty Shabazz, was asked on WNBC-TV if she thought Farrakhan had anything to do with her husband’s killing. She answered: "Of course. Yes… Nobody kept it a secret. It was a badge of honour. Everybody talked about it. Yes."
Moreover, Farrakhan’s NoI has continued Elijah Muhammad's tradition of links with the fascist right — believing that the Nazis, who also want racial separation, have something in common with the NoI.
In June 1961 a delegation of American Nazi Party members attended the NoI’s convention in Washington DC. In 1962 Nazi Party leader George Lincoln Rockwell, dressed in full Nazi regalia, declared to the NoI Chicago convention: “Elijah Muhammad is to the so-called Negro what Adolf Hitler was to the German people… Heil Hitler!"
Malcolm X, who had been ordered to represent the NoI at a meeting with the fascists in 1961, later wrote to Rockwell, “This is to warn you that I am no longer held in check from fighting white supremacists by Elijah Muhammad's separatist Black Muslim movement". (Malcolm Speaks, 1965). In 1964 Malcolm had offered to send people to the Deep South to “give the Ku Klux Klan a taste of their own medicine".
But in 1985 Farrakhan repeated Elijah Muhammad's mistakes by allowing Californian Klan leader Tom Metzger to attend an NoI rally in Los Angeles. The NoI accepted a $100 donation from this racist scumbag. Farrakhan has also declared that “Hitler was a very great man" (at a rally for Jesse Jackson, 1984).
The organisation Louis Farrakhan now leads has tacked towards the Democratic mainstream during the 1990s. It remains right-wing, anti-white and anti-Korean (some Korean people run shops in black areas in US cities) .
Farrakhan is anti-abortion, anti-gay and wants to see schools separated by sex. Some of the NoI’s meetings and rallies are closed to women.
The NoI is also profoundly anti-semitic. In the past it has distributed the infamous Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a Russian Tsarist police forgery which claims to show that a Jewish conspiracy exists to control the world. The NoI has its own “Protocols" — The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews claims that: Jews ran the African slave trade; Jews were the major owners of slaves in the US; Jews raped black women; that during Reconstruction, Jews preyed on freed black slaves. Like many anti-semitic texts the NoI claim it is based on the works of “respected Jewish authorities".
In fact the Secret Relationship is a lying mess in which facts are misrepresented and notorious anti-semites — such as Dostoyevsky — are quoted to prove a point. (In fact Jews were a very small minority of whites in the Deep South and owned, as a proportion, less slaves than other groups of whites.)
Farrakhan believes the Jews control the media and that Judaism is a “dirty religion”.
Farrakhan’s deputy, Khallid Muhammad, called Jews “bloodsuckers of the black nation".
Speaking in February 1994, Khallid Muhammad said: “God will kill my enemy… that old no-good Jew, that old impostor Jew, that old hooknose, bagel-eating, lox-eating, Johnny-come-lately perpetrating a fraud, just crawled out of the caves and hills of Europe, so-called damn J_w… I will never apologise to this bas_tard — never."
The NoI and Louis Farrakhan are bad news.

Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam on Slavery in the Sudan
Slavery in the Sudan has come to increasing public attention during the country’s 16 year war waged by the Muslim north against the black Christian south
Despite mounting evidence pointing to the disturbing reality of Black enslavement in the Sudan, Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam maintain ties with Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and leader of Sudan’s ruling party, Hassan al-Turabi. Under this leadership, the country has become a base for Islamic extremist terrorism, and Muslim enslavement of Sudanese Blacks has persisted.
The Minister refuses to condemn the current regime regarding this atrocity occurring in Africa to his fellow Blacks.

Like Marcus Garvey, Farrakhan has wed an anti-democratic, conformist and morally repressive program to a superficial race militancy that gives it the feel of populist radicalism. This is the kernel of fascism, and Farrak- han's view of the world is truly fascist. His vision for organization of black American life is racist, authoritarian, sexist, homophobic, and theocratic." Reed's critique is harsh, but not inaccurate.

What About the Nation of Islam's Historical Ties to Fascism?
Published: February 23, 1994
It was widely reported when Louis Farrakhan, head of the Nation of Islam, suspended Khalid Abdul Muhammad, who told an audience at Kean College of New Jersey that Jews are bloodsuckers, gays are sissies, and the Pope is a cracker.
Mr. Farrakhan rebuked the manner in which Mr. Muhammad delivered his message, but Mr. Farrakhan reaffirmed the "truths" of that message! Reporters speculate if this is a repudiation of bigotry or not. But they are silent about the history of the Nation of Islam on these subjects.
In the early 1960's, at a large gathering of the Nation of Islam, the featured speaker was Elijah Muhammad, its leader. But the speaker just before him, addressing Elijah Muhammad's followers, was George Lincoln Rockwell, leader of the American Nazi Party.
In the early 1960's Malcolm X, as a Nation of Islam spokesman, mocked the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. At the height of civil rights protest Malcolm traveled to the South, not to partake in civil rights protest, but to negotiate with leaders of the Ku Klux Klan on how to thwart the struggle for civil rights. This scene is omitted from Spike Lee's film and from the recent PBS documentary on Malcolm X.

Rev. Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam - PublicEye.org - The ...Many of the key elements of a fascist political movement are present in the NOI, including theories of racial nationalism, racial superiority, organic leadership, and the appropriateness of authoritarian measures in support of public safety and security. The Fruit of Islam who surround Farrakhan as bodyguards reflect an attachment to military trappings, and help build a cult of personality around Minister Farrakhan himself. The demagoguery of Farrakhan and some of his key lieutenants periodically strays into scapegoating of Jews as evil conspirators. And if congruence with key elements of fascism is not alone persuasive, consider that members of the Nation of Islam have at times cooperated with white U.S. fascists around a shared interest in racial separatism and racial nationalism... dangerous... are the themes of authoritarianism and racial nationalism which underlie racial organicism. Reed warns that "because of his organization and ideology, however, Farrakhan more than his predecessors throws into relief the dangerous, fascistic presumptions inscribed at the foundation of that model."

ADVOCATING GENOCIDE
Khalid Abdul Muhammad
In recent years, the words and deeds of Khalid Abdul Muhammad have been the focus of increasing public attention. A former national spokesman for the Nation of Islam (NOI), Muhammad's outspoken rhetoric is exceedingly confrontational. His supporters seem to view his hateful diatribes as expressions of rage that traditional Black leaders are unable or unwilling to deliver; however, his numerous appearances at universities and rallies have proven to be little more than a platform for his virulent anti-Semitism and racism.
By 1985, Muhammad had become one of Minister Louis Farrakhan's most trusted advisors in the Nation of Islam. He accompanied Farrakhan on fund-raising trips to Libya, where he became well acquainted with Muammar el-Qaddafi. Muhammad's dedication to Farrakhan and to the racist message of the NOI eventually secured him the title of national spokesman.
The start of Muhammad's notoriety was marked by a speech at New Jersey's Kean College in November 1993. He referred to Jews as "bloodsuckers," called for the genocide of white people, and demeaned both Pope John Paul II and homosexuals.
