Served as chief advisor for the infamous butcher, Islamic leader Idi Amin.

He went on a 'crusade against Whites,'[8] has put thousands of Christians to death for their faith,[9] attempted to stamp out all the Christians in his country,[10] and established preferential treatment to Muslims over non-Muslims.[11] Was racist against Indians,[12] He admired Hitler and was branded a fascist.[13]).

Author: Mazrui talks about Western-Christian slavery but not about Arab-Islamic slavery which pre-dated and post-dated trans-Atlantic slavery for centuries, that is, starting from the 7th century and continues up to this day. Slavery is still rife in Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Mauritania etc.

He talks about racism in the West and denies racism in Arab-Muslim society. The book, "The Legacy of A Arab-Islam in Africa: A Quest for Inter-Religious Dialogue,"[14] attacks Mazrui and reveals the magnitude and cruelty of Arab slavery and racism.[15][17][16]

In the 1980's he published an anti-Whites, anti-Ammerican book, blaming the West/Whites for all problems in Africa, today. He's also been praising the late tyrant Muammar Qaddafi (Gadhafi).[18] Especially since his 1986 conroversial TV series.[19][20] and still continued on in the 2011 massacring of Libyans standing up to topple him.[21]

But Mazrui's tactic of crying racism doesn't stop with Whites. He "accused" critic of Islam --Ex Muslim, the author-- Salman Rushdie of: "anti-Arabism" and "Negrophobia," in order to --somehow-- discredit him. Though, his theory doesn't even make sense.[27]

This Mazrui is also associated with Bin Laden funded organization ICPC - International Center for the Propagation of Islam.[28][29] Headed by a pro Jihad, pro Bin-Laden Islamist 'Ahmed Deedat.'[30] Mazrui defended terrorist professor Sami Al-Arian, on trial after FBI pointed evidence to his link to Islamic jihad.[31]

In 2010, this Afro-Arab racist gave a shocking anti-Semitic "theory" - speech about the ethnicity of the Jews.[32][33]

In fact, he is one of the first (after [Hitler's ally, Grand Mufti of Palestine's henchman[34]] A. Shukairy [35]) to come up with the "apartheid" slur on Zionism, in 1977.[36]

MIM: It is a travesty of the war on terror that calls for halting of the lecture of Dr. Daniel Pipes, the distinquished Middle East expert , and board member of the United States Institute of Peace,are being heard while no one is demanding that the RIT administration scrutinize the scheduled lecturer Ali Mazrui's associations with Ahmed Deedat and the Bin Laden funded ICPI, as well as his leading roles in other radical Islamist organisations and withdraw his invitation to speak.

Ali Mazrui is a radical Islamist who lectured last year at the Bin Laden funded ICPI - International Center for the Propagation of Islam, whose founder and director , Ahmed Deedat is directly funded by the Bin Laden family and has boasted about meeting Bin Laden personally several times. Mazrui is also on the board of the Association of Muslim Social Services, the sister organisation of the IIIT - The International Institute of Islamic Thought, which is a Wahabist Saudi funded Islamic propagation front which was raided by the FBI and the JTTF in 2003.. A left wing paper written by students who are opposing Dr. Pipes right to free speech have even started a media campaign of hysterical disinformation which states that students at RIT will be forced to listen to Dr. Pipes lecture or not be able to graduate (!).

MIM: Update 1/5/04 The Left Hook paper has distorted the situation using a quote by Monique Dols, the Mid Atlantic CAN (Campus Anti War Network) representative, by failing to note the fact that some RIT senior students are required to attend the lecture series as part of their required coursework and have the same obligation to attend the lecture of Dr.Pipes as that of Ali Mazrui. One of the interviewees was the CAN representative on the RIT campus Josh Karpoff, who did nothing to rectify Dol's false claim about the lecture series.

The communications director of RIT has clarified the situation and informed MIM that The Gannet lecture series which is inviting Dr. Pipes and Ali Mazrui are part of at the curriculum of a senior course. The attendence requirement pertains to all of the lectures in the series , although any students who are not able to attend will be accomodated according to circumstances.

MIM:While Dr. Grebinger's and the RIT Provost Simone are on the defensive justifying their invitation to Dr.Pipes the real focus of condemnation should be their invitation of Ali Mazrui. who is probably regarded by the 'Left Hook' crowd as a paradigm of academic freedom and integrity.

Mazrui's statements regarding ex USF professor and Florida jailbird Sami Al Arian are indicative of his committment to aintellectual honesty. MIM: Indeed RIT's hosting of Ali Mazrui under the guise of giving the lecture series' balance' is similiar to the disingenuous excuses given by the administration of Duke University, who defended their hosting of an Islamist conference under the guise of giving a forum to 'other views'. The conference ended up being not only a terrorist recruiting event , but the Duke administrations defense of the groups involved emboldened them to unleash a wave of anti semitism and conflict which is still engulfing the campus. MIM: It appears that the RIT administration is turning a blind eye to Mazrui's documented anti semitism and the fact that he lectured twice at an institute whose director is a personal friend of and is funded by Osama Bin Laden . On his own campus of Binghamton University, Mazrui turned a political science class into a vicious anti semitic and Israel bashing diatribe.

Mazrui 's Jew baiting is not surprising for someone who has no qualms about working for enterprises funded by Osama bin Laden. MIM : It is indeed remarkable that students are clamoring to silence Dr. Daniel Pipes but are silent about the decision to invite the radical Islamist Ali Mazrui to speak on the RIT campus . Before Mazrui is lectures at RIT the university officals who are hosting his lecture should check with law enforcement and hold Mazrui accountable for his ties to Ahmed Deedat- Bin Laden- Al Qaeda - the International Center for Islamic Propagation- which is housed in a building named 'The Bin Laden Centre' in Durban South Africa and inquire into his role as board member and purveyor of the Ibn Khaldun Chair at the Graduate School for Islamic and Social Sciences (GISSS) which was recently raided by the FBI in connection with terrorist funding for Al Qaeda.

STUDENTS SLAM PRO-ISRAEL SPEAKER BUT WELCOME PROFESSOR WITH 'TERROR TIES'

Students at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) have been protesting an upcoming lecture, mandatory for some seniors, by pro-Israel Middle East expert Daniel Pipes, while public concerns have not be voiced over another speech, part of the same series, by Ali Mazrui, a professor accused of ties to organizations supporting terrorism.
RIT is featuring the Caroline Gerner Gannett Lecture Series, a seminar for seniors open to all students on "Globalization, Human Rights and Citizenship," that brings to the campus over a dozen guest speakers as well as in-house professors to discuss topics ranging from regional conflict to the conservation of water.

Even though his speech is three months away, students have already written letters to lecture coordinators and the university president demanding Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, a think tank that defines and promotes American interests in the Middle East, be disinvited or appear with a counterpoising speaker, although other Gannett lecturers appear without opposing speakers. An antiwar group has plastered the RIT undergraduate campus with posters protesting Pipes' speech.
Pipes has in the past drawn some fire from Islamic groups for his support of Israel and for exposing several Islamic extremist organizations operating in the U.S.
In one letter to RIT president Dr. Albert Simone, a student writes Pipes is "an individual who makes broad stereotypical generalizations about people of the Muslim faith, such as '15% of Muslims are terrorists,' as well as supporting the concept that the only road to Middle East peace is 'Total Israeli victory' ... How can the Gannett Lecture Series purport to be promoting the academic principles of debate and discussion when it allows his ideas to go without criticism by his peers? If Daniel Pipes does not want to appear with another speaker, then as I see it he doesn't have to come and get paid."
Pipes, who once estimated 15% of Muslims are "Islamists" not "terrorists," has said he would not be interested in speaking with an opposing professor.
"My major purpose in going to universities like RIT is to offer a different point of view from what students usually hear. I dislike the idea of balance because it cuts into my time and it implies that my views need to be wrapped and controlled," said Pipes.
Dr. Paul Grebinger, professor of Anthropology and coordinator of the Gannett series, agreed.
"It is often valuable to hear from individuals whose ideas we may oppose and whom we may not even like. I expect that Pipes will draw representatives from the Islamic community here on campus and from Rochester. They will no doubt be asking very pointed questions. So, I don't expect any lack of debate."
Last week, a poster distributed throughout the campus sponsored by the RIT Antiwar Group headlined "Islam is not the problem" called Pipes a "racist" and declared, "The real problem is the occupation of Iraq and the U.S. support of oppressive regimes in the Middle East. Stop the scapegoating of Arabs and Muslims!"
The group justified their "racist" label by quoting an article in which Pipes wrote, "The outside world should focus not on showering money or other benefits on the Palestinian Arabs, but on pushing them relentlessly to accept Israel's existence."
One RIT professor who asked that his name be withheld for fear that he "may lose his job" called the posters "idiotic. There is nothing remotely close to being racist about that statement. Pipes is the only thing approaching a non-leftist perspective on this campus, it wouldn't kill these students to hear an opposing view. None of the liberal speakers need balancing counterparts."
Dr. A.J. Cashetta, a professor of language at RIT told WorldNetDaily "I have never heard anyone here complain before that a speaker needed a counterbalanced idea, and now suddenly we have Pipes and people are complaining?"
Meanwhile, another Gannett lecturer, Dr. Ali Mazrui, who has repeatedly made anti-Israel comments, spoke at an Islamic extremist institution and is accused of ties to groups supporting terrorism, has escaped student criticism.
Mazrui, director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies at Binghamton University, is on the board of the Association of Muslim Social Services, whose sister organization, the International Institute of Islamic Thought, a Saudi-funded Islamic group, was raided by the FBI in 2003. The executive secretary for the AMSS, Kamran Bokhari, was the North American spokesman for Al-Muhajiroun, a UK-based fundamentalist organization that disbanded in October under intense pressure by the authorities because of the group's suspected ties to al-Qaida. Al-Muhajiroun members have become suicide bombers for Hamas, fought U.S. troops in Aghanistan, held rallies calling for the "death of America," and publicly supported the charge of Osama bin Laden.
Mazrui lectured last year at the International Center for the Propagation of Islam in Durban South Africa. According to Militant Islam Monitor, the Center is funded by the bin Laden family and organizations linked to al-Qaida, and its founder and director, Ahmed Deedat, has publicly boasted of meeting bin Laden personally several times.
Mazrui recently wrote a paper, "The State of Israel as Cause for Anti-Semitism," and presented a lecture at Binghamton that a student called "a 45-minute diatribe against Israel" equating Zionism with fascism, Israel with apartheid South Africa and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with Hitler. Mazrui also expressed support for Sami Al-Arian, a South Florida professor indicted for raising money for the Islamic Jihad terror group, calling him "a victim of prejudice and of popular ill will."
In an IslamOnline.com Question and Answer series, Mazrui implied Muslims are being isolated from American politics by pro-Israel Jews. "In the case of Hillary Clinton for example she was under pressure from pro-Israeli anti-Muslim New Yorkers. It was vital that American Muslims should not let those forces prevail and should keep on trying to enter the system ..." wrote Mazrui.
Beila Rabinowitz, director of Militant Islam Monitor, told WorldNetDaily, "It is a travesty of the war on terror that we are hearing calls for halting the lecture of Dr. Daniel Pipes, the distinguished Middle East expert, while no one is demanding that the RIT administration scrutinize the scheduled lecturer Ali Mazrui, who plays leading roles in radical Islamist organizations."
Mazrui, in an interview with WND, countered, "I'm not spying on the AMSS to find out who else is involved with them and whether they are kosher. Also, about the university in South Africa, I have to find out who funded it. But I don't agree with this guilt by association policy."
American universities hosting speakers connected to terrorism is nothing new. In December, WND exposed Nova Southeastern University was hosting a fundraising concert for the Islamic Relief, a charity connected to several organizations that support terrorism, is under investigation for accepting a contribution from a front group for al-Qaida, and was founded by the principle fundraiser for Muslim Aid, which according to Spanish police used funds to send mujahadeen to fight U.S. troops overseas and has held events at which speakers have boasted of supporting al-Qaida terror activities.
And in October, Duke University hosted a Palestinian solidarity conference cleared by the FBI and Homeland Security in which students were recruited to join the International Solidarity Movement, a terror-supporting group that has harbored terrorists in their Middle East offices and is outlawed in Israel.

Reviving Jewish Race Science at Columbia U Conference

The population of Jews in the US is three percent ... but [their 'genius'] leads to their controlling so much power that even presidents are scared [of them]. Whether [President Barack] Obama will be able to escape the notion that three percent of the country is so powerful that the top gentile in the land cannot criticize Israel is not clear.

The above statement was made not by a Hamas or KKK leader, but by Ali al-Amin Mazrui, director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies at SUNY Binghamton. He was addressing the Ifriqiyya Colloquium Conference, held on the top floor of Columbia University's International Affairs Building, on Thursday, May 6. Mazrui is a darling of the far left, appearing prominently in venues such as Democracy Now, as well as at Islamist forums like the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

Columbia Professor Mahmood Mamdani and Barnard College Professor Nadia Abu El-Haj also sat on the panel, the former serving as moderator. Mamdani introduced the speaker, telling the audience that the Ifriqiyya Colloquium was about "gain[ing] some depth to the study of Africa." It may require a Ph.D. to appreciate how Mazrui's anti-Semitic diatribe relates to that mission statement.

Mazrui's lecture was entitled "Euro-Jews and Afro-Arabs: The Semitic Divergence in History," but he spent most of his time discussing the development of Jewish "genius" and "cultural impurity" in a European context. Ostensibly, Mazrui was comparing the impact of Jews on Europe to the impact of Arabs on Africa. However, he was more interested in why "Arabs lagged behind Jews in manifest genius." After admitting he knew little about Arab history and even less about Jews, Mazrui proceeded to spend his allotted time talking about the history of both peoples.

Mazrui did not flinch in asking rhetorical such questions such as "What aspects of Marxism are taken from Judaism?" He made the nuanced argument that since Karl Marx was ethnically Jewish, he clearly made "the Chosen People [into] the proletariat." Mazrui's lecture was also peppered with statements like "Jews have been at their best when they were Europeanized...almost as if you needed a mixture of Jewishness and Europeanness [for Jewish genius]."

He also claimed that Jews as a people are insular and racist. "Arabs are far less race-conscious and ethnic-conscious than Jews are," he said. "Acceptance of race mixture was more developed in Arab culture than in Jewish culture."

In case anyone thought he was referring to ancient history, Mazrui made it clear that his observation applied to the modern period. He told his audience that Kuwait formerly had a black prime minister, which was not widely reported in the media, but if Israel had one, "that definitely would make world news." He neglected to mention that Kuwait's Prime Minister is not elected, so the fact that a Kuwaiti Prime Minister was black tells us little about Kuwaiti society. Israel, on the other hand, is a multi-ethnic democracy with Arabs and Jews of every color serving in the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.

Abu El-Haj took the stage after Mazrui and attempted to give the conference a more academic tone. She spoke articulately about Mazrui's research and largely succeeded in obfuscating the issue of Mazrui's flirtation with race science. Abu El-Haj brings plenty of baggage to the debate: She has drawn criticism for working on a book claiming Ashkenazi Jews are not genetically related to the ancient Israelites, although she is not a geneticist and there is definitive scientific evidence to the contrary. Her controversial book, Facts on the Ground, argues that Israeli archaeologists have distorted the country's material record in the service of nation-building. It was subjected to harsh reviews.

Yet even Abu El-Haj was taken aback by Mazrui's research: "I don't fully understand what you're doing [in the section of his paper discussing 'Jewish Genius']," she exclaimed.

Mazrui clarified that Jews had "a certain kind of impurity" that led them to be "like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," but now they have "landed with Mr. Hyde's evil identity."

This statement was too much even for Mamdani, a vociferous critic of the Jewish state, who said, "I'm not comfortable with the direction this conversation is going in." Abu El-Haj then made the astute observation that the conversation had "racial-genetic undertones" and that "it's dangerous to talk about the biology of any group."

Mazrui was offended, apparently unaware that he had said anything that could be construed as racist. He clarified that he was talking about "cultural," not "racial," "impurity." He then went off on a political tangent.

This digression led him to the above statement about the "control" exercised by "three percent of the population" over the "highest gentile in the land," determining American ties with Israel. Mazrui must have missed the fact that Americans support Israel over its adversaries at a ratio of over four to one, making the 2.2 percent of the U.S. population that is Jewish relatively trivial in the president's calculations of Middle Eastern policy. Mazrui continued with this theme anyway, saying toward the end of his speech that "[the Nobel Committee] gave [Egyptian President] Anwar Sadat the Nobel Peace Prize for being a good boy toward the Jews."

The conference ended at the completion of Mazrui's diatribe. It was a surreal experience to bear witness to a professor of Mazrui's professional stature dispensing with the usual fig leaf of "anti-Zionism" to espouse classic anti-Semitism. Academia ostensibly supports a world without prejudice, but professors like Mazrui now provide a legitimate façade for Jewish racial stereotypes. This is rank hypocrisy, and it's time we call it what it is.

Ali al-Amin Mazrui (b. 1933) is the most celebrated intellectual of African origins in the United States. His 1,500-word official resume is a bit daunting, but here follow some highlights:

At Binghamton University, which is part of the State University of New York Mazrui is (1) Albert Schweitzer Professor in the Humanities, professor in (2) Political Science, (3) African Studies and Philosophy, and (4) Interpretation and Culture, plus (5) director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies.

In addition, he has distinguished appointments at Cornell University, the University of Jos in Nigeria, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya. He has served as visiting scholar at Stanford, Denver, Chicago, Ohio State, Pennsylvania, Bridgewater, Harvard, Colgate, McGill, Sussex, Oxford, Leeds, London, Cairo, Baghdad, Tehran, Nairobi, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and “etc.”

He has authored over thirty books, from Towards a Pax Africana in 1967 The Politics of War and the Culture of Violence in 2008. Every important newspaper in the world has carried his byline. He narrated a high-profile television series, The Africans: A Triple Heritage, for the BBC and PBS in 1986.

Miscellaneous honors include being elected an “Icon of the Twentieth Century” by Lincoln University and being nominated for a “Living Legend Award” by two African organizations. Honorary degrees have come tumbling in. He “has been involved in a number of UN projects on matters which have ranged from human rights to nuclear proliferation.”

Authorities around the world, in short, inform us that professors don’t come smarter or wiser than Mazrui.

BRUSSELS (EJP)—Like every Friday, as part of the day school activities, 13-year-old Oceane Sluijzer goes to the sport training center in Neder-Over-Hembeek, a Brussels suburb, where she plays football.

There she meets other girls from the same nearby secondary public school. Many of them are from Moroccan origin and Oceane feels sometimes difficult to be integrated and to be treated well.

She was in fact excluded from the group because of her look, she is blond, and because she is not of Arab descent, she says.

Two weeks ago, the shy Jewish girl came as usual at the center and found again the same situation. But this time she started a discussion. “Why don’t you respect me?,” she asked a group of four girls. “Is it because I am not Arab?”.

Then, after the discussion heated up, one of the Muslim girl, the group leader, shouted at her: “Dirty Jew, shut up and return to your country,” words that she repeated.

Oceane didn’t know how to react to the anti-Semitic insult but responded: “I will not shut up and I am already in my country.”

She then received two slaps in the face before being badly beaten by one of the girl for several minutes. It was only thanks to her Indian girlfriend that she could get out of the situation. “If she would not have been present, my daughther would maybe have been killed,” explained her father, 44-year-old Dan Sluijzer.

Suffering a head concussion and face injuries, she went to hospital. She talked on the phone to her father who told her to go straight to the police station to fill a complaint.

Since then she didn’t return to her school and was so scared that she even didn’t went out of her home. But she decided to change of school. The Jewish school was one option, but she felt Hebrew and religion were “too much” for her in the middle of the year.

In an joint interview with Israel’s daily newspaper Yediot Aharonot and European Jewish Press, last Thursday, along with her father, the girl said policemen told her that the four girls would be questioned, would be told that this was not permitted and that if they do it again the complaint would go further.

Police reportedly asked the girl and her father not to say that this was an anti-Semitic act.

“I feel better today than when it happened but it is still difficult for me psychologically because I cannot understand this violence, that such things can happen. I would never imagine that things can go to that point.”

“The problem is that the other youths, who are not Muslims, are scared and don’t want to react or intervene,” Dan Sluijzer, a professional actor, said.

She even didn’t heard from her school after the aggression, not from the headmaster nor from teachers or classmates. “I only received support phone calls facebook messages from fellow comrades of the Hashomer Hatsair youth movement.”

Already before the event took place, the father went to see the school principal to make him understand that there was a problem of anti-Semitism in his school.

“He told me: Mr Sluijzer, they are kids. Don’t generalize what happens.” Oceane and her 16-year-old sister Salome are the sole Jewish students of the “Athenee Les Pagodes”, a school in a quiet neighborhood of mixed social population.

Oceane’s father believes that the new school, located in a different area of the city, will be able to protect her this time . “Jewish religion is teached. This didn’t exist in the other school.”

Oceane doesn’t feel that her attackers are the “winners” because she left. One of the girl was expelled definitively from the school and two others for three days. They were told to prepare a research work on the Holocaust and the deportation of Jews.

The school principal declined any comment to Yediot Aharonot and EJP “because there is an appeal from the sanctioned girls still pending,” said Faouzia Hariche, who is in charge of public instruction in the city of Brussels.

Dan Sluijzer deplored the indifference of the Belgian authorities “like it was in 1940.” . “They prefer to let people fight each other.” Only Brussels Jewish parliamentarian Viviane Teitelbaum reacted and was to first to inform about the aggression.

In the beginning Sluijzer felt “hatred towards the Muslims but also towards the authorities because nobody say or do something.”

“I would have expected from political parties to tell my daughter: we understand what happened and we will act so that this could not happen again.”

“Unfortunately nothing happened,” deplored Dan Sluizer, whose father’s family members in Holland were deported to Auschwitz. Only two of them survived.

Sluijzer thinks that Israel “doesn’t protect Jews in the world enough.” and “that’s why Arabs attack Jews.”

“Jews in the world are fighting for Israel. When people attack Israel, it’s like they attack me. So when somebody attacks me I want also Israel to be next to me.”" But he thinks that the responsibility to protect the Jews lies more in hands of the local authorities.

Besides the aggression against Oceane Sluijzer, Jewish groups also reported the case of a 16-year-old Jewish student at the upscale European Brussels School where boys of the same age repeatedly called her “Dirty Jew” and harassed her because they disagree with Israel’s policy towards the Palestinians.

Her mother complained to the school but the reaction was rather unsatisfactory. Camille left for the Ganenou Jewish secondary school.

“It is unfair, the victim must leave,” commented the mother.

“Why are Jews in Belgium scared?,” titled a Belgian magazine.

Turkish warplanes launched air strikes against suspected Kurdish militants in northern Iraq near the Turkish border overnight, the military said on Thursday, but local officials said the attack killed 35 smugglers who were mistaken for guerrillas.

The Turkish military confirmed it had launched the strikes after unmanned drones spotted suspected rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), but said there were no civilians in the area and it was investigating the incident.

The attack, which Turkey's largest pro-Kurdish party called a "crime against humanity", sparked clashes between hundreds of stone-throwing protesters and police in Diyarbakir, the largest city in Turkey's restive mainly Kurdish southeast.

Police responded by firing water cannon and tear gas at the demonstrators. Seven people were detained. One police officer was hurt after being hit by a stone, witnesses said.

"We have 30 corpses, all of them are burned. The state knew that these people were smuggling in the region. This kind of incident is unacceptable. They were hit from the air," said Fehmi Yaman, mayor of Uludere in Sirnak province.

The Sirnak governor's office said 35 people had been killed and one wounded during an operation near the border with Uludere district.

The pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) said party leaders were heading for the area and that it would hold demonstrations in Istanbul and elsewhere to protest the deaths.

"This is a massacre," BDP Deputy Chairwoman Gultan Kisanak told a news conference in Diyarbakir.

"This country's warplanes bombed a group of 50 of its citizens to destroy them. This is a war crime and a crime against humanity," she said.

Sirnak Massacre, December 29 2011 (Kurdish American Society)

In an attack on Wednesday December 29 2011, in the Kurdish area between Turkey and Iraq, Turkish airplanes killed 35 Kurdish villagers near Uludere in Sirnak province. Once again, with the pretext of “fighting the PKK terrorists,” Kurdish civilians have lost their lives. This latest assault on Kurdish civilians by the Turkish air force is yet another example of the Turkish government’s misguided policy. The Kurdish question cannot be solved through military means. The only means of solving the Kurdish question in Turkey is a democratic approach. Grant the Kurds their national rights.

We extend our condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims of this latest attack.

We hope that the year 2012 brings a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question in Turkey so that both Turks and Kurds no longer have to shed tears.

KIRKUK, South Kurdistan, -- Kurdistan Democratic Solution Party (PCDK) declared in a statement that Turkish government and AKP have decided to massacre Kurdish people and for the last few years they have been working hard to achieve this decision violating all kinds of moral and ethic principles using chemical and prohibited weapons.

The leading council of PCDK has announced within the statement that although massacres of the Kurdish people is pursued every minute on a daily basis, the international communities, institutions and so-called democratic states have been silent in the face of it.

PCDK strongly condemned such an inhuman conduct of the Turkish and AKP government and called upon every humanist individual and patriotic to raise their objection to such a massacre.

“By adaptation of national and democratic position we should uncover these conspiracies and massacre and with the resonance of our national demanding, reawaken the passive and asleep consciousness, because these offensives are against the whole Kurdish nation,” PCDK stated.

At the end of the statement PCDK calls upon all the institutions and circles particularly the Peshmerge Forces of Kurdistan Regional Government to accomplish their national duty and spread their hands to the Kurds in North Kurdistan.

The number of those who lost their lives while crossing the border from south of Kurdistan to the north is varied -- 35, according to official statements, 50, according to the Kurds.

As the information indicates, they were all young in their twenties, were not carrying any weapons and did not have the slightest intention of terrorizing anyone.

They were doing the impossible -- crossing the border at night, amid minefields -- to earn money for their families. One doesn't have to use their imagination to realize how much this says about the unbearable life in the north of Kurdistan.

They were carrying petrol, or cigarettes according to the BBC. The price differential for these goods between the two sides of the border is huge.

According to media reports, they were initially spotted by an unmanned plane and later bombed by F16 jets. Both are from the United State of America.

So far, the military is insisting on their story that the people who were killed were PKK members. The Turkish government regards what happened as an “error.”

The Turkish media are suspicious of provocation, and the Kurdish political parties are describing it as a massacre. The truth is somewhere among these two.

Setting aside all of these descriptions, justifications and condemnations, is the sober question of what this reveals. What happened to this group of people at that place and at that time of the year reveals a great deal about nature of life, circumstances, political situations, military rule and being a Kurd in Turkey.

Why are these young people risking their life to cross the border in this dangerous zone? This is the question asked by Turkish nationalists, but alas answered wrongly.

For Turkish nationalist supporters, the question is rather rhetorical. However, when the same question is asked from the Kurdish perspective, the answer is clear.

They were forced to risk their life because of the harsh economic condition in the region, which is a direct result of the political situation for the Kurds in Turkey. This reality is the result of the decade-long political, economic and social discrimination from the state. There were many among those who were killed crossing borders to make enough money for their forthcoming exams; an adventure to be able to leave a life of deprivation.

Last summer when I traveled to Turkey I witnessed the harshness and humiliating situation for anybody who crosses the border legally, let alone illegally. I spent a whole night sleeping in a car in the middle of the border bridge waiting for the soldiers to let us in at the end of the bridge.

Let's examine calmly what the massacre reveals. First, and above all, it reveals the contemptibleness of Kurdish life in Turkey, especially from the military point of view. Secondly, it reveals the level of injustice and discrimination against the Kurdish people in Turkey. Thirdly, the war which is occurring in Kurdistan is not against the PKK alone; it is against the Kurds indiscriminately.

Despite the use of high technology and the best intelligence from the United State of America, what is going on is a dirty war by all standards.

The claim by the Turkish media that those who were killed were “Turkish citizens” is a smart language game to cover up their Kurdishness. It is at best misleading.

The massacre reveals that not much has changed throughout history. The number of deaths and the fact that the victims were villagers remind us of the “33 bullet” incident in 1943 when General Mustafa Muğlalı ordered the execution of 33 Kurdish villagers who smuggled some livestock out of the region in a barracks located in Van’s Özalp district. Has anything changed in the past 70 years? There is still a long way to go for Turkey to deal with its racist institutions.

A Turkish Assad?

ISTANBUL — Which is scarier: a government that hunts down and kills dozens in cold blood, or a government that hunts down and kills dozens by accident?

On Thursday, Turkey admitted to being the second type of government, just as over the last few months Syria has demonstrated itself conclusively to be the first. Turkey’s mistake, which it acknowledged sheepishly, was to launch air-strikes on Wednesday against about 35 men hiking along unmarked trails between Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan. The Turkish military says it thought the men were terrorist members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (P.K.K.). But evidence found near the corpses suggested a more benign activity: the men were smugglers evading onerous Turkish and Iraqi customs duties on diesel and tobacco at the official crossing point of Habur. They carried Kools, not Kalashnikovs.

In the past, Turkey’s Kurds have responded to incidents like this one by protesting in the streets and public squares, with a little bit of armed struggle from actual terrorists on the side. Last night in Istanbul, Kurds and their allies went to the streets. On Istliklal Avenue, in Beyoglu district in central Istanbul, at street corners normally reserved for upper-class shoppers in winter chic, riot police stood huffing into their hands to chase away the cold, waiting for violence that never came. But news agencies reported that in the country’s predominantly Kurdish southeast, crowds threw stones and Molotov cocktails, and stores were shuttered for the day.

After violence in the southeast, recriminations and confrontations like these are common. But there’s a notable change of vocabulary this time. Whereas Kurds once looked to the West and patiently tried to master the human rights language of the European Union, now at least some of them are looking south, to the more urgent and concrete language of protest movements in the Arab world. And in adopting that rhetoric, the Kurdish leaders are making missteps.

“A leader who kills his own people has lost his legitimacy,” Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey said of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria in September. Now Selahattin Demirtas, the Kurdish member of parliament who heads the Peace and Democracy Party, finds Erdogan’s words delicious. “Now I say the same thing back to him,” Demirtas said. “This was no accident: it was a massacre.” Demirtas, whose party is the sole legal political voice of the Kurds in Turkey these days, said he considered the killing caused by Wednesday’s air strike to be an Assad-level crime.

It’s a preposterous and self-discrediting comparison: Erdogan and Assad resemble each other in little more than their mustaches. The first people to acknowledge the differences between the two should be the Kurds themselves: Erdogan’s government has in many ways improved upon the nationalist Turkish governments of yesteryear, and the Kurds of Syria have always suffered far more grievously than the Kurds of Turkey. In the P.K.K. camps of northern Iraq, Syrian Kurds are overrepresented — the result of especially zealous oppression by the Assad regime.

It’s hard to begrudge a movement as aggrieved as the Kurds’ this moment of hyperbole. But let’s hope that the Kurds will reconsider their annexation of Arab Spring analogies. A movement that has spent the last couple of decades mastering the art of patience shouldn’t now sideline its own cause with a faulty comparison to a more desperate one.

A genuine Egyptian liberal – and a very lonely voice‎ Jerusalem Post - 11/29/2011 For Amr Bargisi, the country’s self-styled liberals are not worthy of the name. Amr Bargisi is the kind of Egyptian whom Washington and Jerusalem can love. Fiercely intelligent, articulate and committed to his country’s well-being, he is also the increasingly rare Egyptian who harbors no ill-will toward America, Israel or the West writ large. All he needs is someone who will listen – and deposit a few Egyptian pounds in his organization’s bank account... They noted that the newspaper run by Al-Wafd, Egypt’s oldest self-described liberal party, routinely runs columns dripping with traditional anti- Semitic motifs. In 2009, its columnist – now the party’s vice chairman – Ahmed Ezz al- Arab chided US President Barack Obama for depicting the Holocaust as a historical event in his Cairo address to the Muslim world.

The same year, a column by Sekina Fouad – vice president of the putatively liberal, secular Democratic Front Party – approvingly cited forged remarks attributed to Benjamin Franklin that described Jews as “locusts, never to get on a green land without leaving it deserted and barren.”

Even Al-Masry Al-Youm, which Bargisi and Tadros describe as “Egypt’s largest independent newspaper and widely regarded as the country’s only serious tribune for Liberalism, ran a column... Anti-Semitism, the coauthors wrote, is a relatively recent arrival to Egyptian cultural life.

“Until Egypt’s Jews were expelled by Gamal Abdel Nasser in the 1950s and ’60s, Egypt had a millennia-old, thriving Jewish community. As late as the 1930s, Jewish politicians occupied ministerial posts in Egyptian governments and participated in nationalist politics,” they wrote. “But all that changed with the rise of totalitarian and fascist movements in Europe, which found more than their share of imitators in the Arab world. When Egypt’s monarchy was overthrown in 1952 by a military coup, anti- Semitism became an ideological pillar of the new totalitarian dispensation.

“Anti-Semitism remains the glue holding Egypt’s disparate political forces together. This is especially true of the so-called liberals, who think they can traffic on their anti-Semitism to gain favor in quarters where they would otherwise be suspect.”

The op-eds were published before Mubarak’s fall, but regrettably little has changed since. Last month, Tawfiq Okasha – a presidential candidate for the avowedly secular, liberal Democratic Peace Party – assured a television audience that “only” 60 percent of Jews are evil. A clip of the remarks was distributed by the mediamonitoring organization MEMRI.

A smattering of small, new Egyptian parties do claim to uphold the same liberal values Bargisi cherishes – in particular, the Free Egyptians Party of telecom tycoon Naguib Sawiris and the Egyptian Social Democratic Party led by the physician and activist Mohamed Abou El-Ghar. Some independents, like the TV personality and activist Bothaina Kamel – a Muslim woman who pushes for equal rights for Coptic Christians – have also garnered attention in Western media.

Their support, however, is minuscule and in any case, Bargisi dismisses them as uncommitted to some of the most fundamental of liberal ideals.

Bargisi says there is no escaping the fact that Islamists are poised to emerge on top in the current elections – by his estimate, they will win at least half of all votes cast.

“Our only hope is to sober up and realize the Islamists are going to win anyway, that they’re going to be in the seat of power and we need to be able to confront them on every single issue and to rally public support as much as we can,” he said.

A committed democrat, Bargisi has little love for the authoritarian nature of the Mubarak government. Still, he says, Egypt was reforming economically in the final years of the ousted president’s rule, even if political reforms were slow in coming.

With Mubarak now gone, however, any thought of what might have been is water under the bridge. What Egypt needs now, Bargisi says, is to nurture a political culture that upholds classical liberal values like rule of law, a dynamic civil society, private enterprise and limited government. Ultimately he hopes to see representative, democratic rule carry the day in Egypt, but says elections should be the last step in that process – not the first.

embly. The repeal effort, which should have been a self-evident proposition, required an extensive diplomatic lobbying campaign by the United States, Israel and a few others. It included the direct, personal participation of President Bush, Vice President Quayle, and Secretary of State Baker; massive efforts by every regional bureau of the Department of State in Washington, American Ambassadors and their staffs in New York and every UN member capital; and lobbying by private groups around the world. The very difficulty of repealing Resolution 3379 showed just how deeply ingrained in the UN system was its anti-Semitic bias, and why, even after repeal, its effects linger.

The UN has repeatedly held Emergency Special Sessions of the General Assembly on Israeli construction in Jerusalem. The Emergency Special Session was originally convened in 1950 for emergencies like the Korean War. In the last 15 years, these special meetings have only been held regarding Israel. Emergency Special Sessions were not convened over the genocide in Rwanda, ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia, or with regard to the other major world conflicts, but they were convened to condemn Israelis moving into buildings they own in territory they have a legitimate claim to.

The United Nations began its life as an anti-Nazi alliance. Thirty years later it is on the way to becoming the world center of anti-Semitism. There is no other tribunal form which such a torrent of abuse is poured forth every year against values, ideals and articles of faith revered by the Jewish people across the centuries. The horrifying truth that Hitler himself would often have felt at home in a forum which gave applause to a gun-toting Yasir Arafat and an obsequious ovation to the murderous Idi Amin.

There is, of course, no difference whatever between anti-Semitism and the denial of Israel’s statehood. Classical anti-Semitism denies the equal rights of Jews as citizens within society. Anti-Zionism denies the equal rights of the Jewish people to its lawful sovereignty within the community of nations. The common principle in the two cases is discrimination.

Zionism is nothing more — but also nothing less — that the Jewish people’s sense of origin and destination in the land linked eternally with its name. It is also the instrument whereby the Jewish nation seeks an authentic fulfillment of itself.

And the drama is enacted in the region in which the Arab nation has realized its sovereignty in 20 states comprising 200 million people in four and a half million square miles, with vast resources.

The issue therefore is not whether the world will come to terms with Arab nationalism. The question is at what point Arab nationalism, with its prodigious glut if advantage, wealth and opportunity, will come to terms with the modest but equal right of another Middle Eastern nation to pursue its life in security and peace.

There are any ways in which Zionism can be defined. I hold in memory a concise formulation made 28 years ago: When Arab armies has attacked Israel on the day of its birth. Andrei Gromyko said in the Security Council on May 21, 1948, that Arab military operations were “aimed at the suppression of a national liberation movement.” It is as simple as that. Truth does not change just because those who proclaim it get tired of their own veracity.

Recently, a coalition of Moslem and Communist depotisms, reinforced, I hope temporarily, by a few Latin-American governments, produced an innovation. In the past decade it has often been possible for the United Nations to adopt resolutions criticizing the policies of member states — provided only that they are non-Moslem non-Communist states which practice parliamentary democracy and are not in the “third world” There are not very many of these, and these alone are considered fair game.

But never before until recently has the Moslem-Communist coalition sought to deploy its assured majority for the defamation of an ideology, a historic doctrine and a spiritual faith endorsed by the United Nations itself 28 years ago. What the General Assembly’s Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee conducted was not so much a debate as a doctrinal Inquisition, as in the Middle Ages.

The Intellectual default is no less spectacular that the moral decline. The charge is, of all things, “racism”! Yet it is just as natural for Arabs to be citizens and members of Parliament in Israel today as it is inconceivable for non-Moslems to be citizens, still less office-holders, in Saudi Arabia or Yemen.

The real essence of the draft resolution is to affirm a principle of monolithic exclusiveness for the Middle East, and to iron out all wrinkles of diversity. Thus, Kurdish individualities brutally oppressed in Iraq; the Christian particularity of Lebanon is to be drowned in a bloodbath; and Israel’s specific Jewish vocation is assailed. The purpose of the resolution’s sponsors is that in a region where many nations, tongues and faiths had their birth the monopoly of independence must be for Moslem pan-Arabism alone. The paradox is that Israel is less likely than others to be injured by the fiasco. The strongest of certainties is that Israel will not disappear, or be swallowed up into something else, or renounce its name, its tongue, its faith, its Jewish solidarities or its Zionist vocation...

There’s an expression, “The pot calling the kettle black.” It refers to someone claiming a sin in others that is at least as prevalent - if not more so - in the accuser than it is in the accused. Hypocrisy is the name of the game.

Turn the clock back three decades.

Some things change, others never will - such as the acceptance of anyone else’s political rights in a multi-ethnic region that most Arabs see exclusively as “purely Arab patrimony.” That’s the Arab-Israel conflict in a nutshell; but it is also the core of the Arab-Berber, Arab-Kurd, Arab-Black African, Arab-Copt, Arab-Assyrian, Arab-non-Arab Lebanese conflicts, as well, among others. The Arabs’ Anfal Campaign against the Kurds and their actions in Darfur and the rest of the southern Sudan are just a few of many examples of Arab genocidal actions against all who might disagree.

To be accepted, and not literally exterminated, one must do what Egypt’s most successful Copt did - consent to this age-old forced subjugation and Arabization. Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghali became a top official in President Anwar Sadat’s government and went on to become Secretary General of the United Nations, as well.

“Uncle Butros” instead of “Uncle Tom”.

He also instructed that for it to be accepted, Israel, as an entire country, must consent to being Arabized; like those Kurdish kids in Syrian Kurdistan who are forced today to sing songs praising their “Arab identity” and so forth.

Back in the 1970s, I was a consultant for a major organization while trying to finish my own doctoral work. One of my main jobs involved being brought in by dozens of major colleges and universities across a three-state region in the American Midwest to balance anti-Israel spokesmen on campus. One such visit was to Ohio University in Athens, near my small-mouth bass fishing grounds in the Hocking River.

OU was famous for its English language program for foreign students, so there were numerous folks there from all over the Arab and African worlds.

Those were the days of the United Nations’ infamous Zionism Equals Racism resolution. Arab and pro-Arab professors were already hijacking the campus scene, constantly putting Israel under the high-power lens of moral scrutiny in ways that they would never dream of doing to the Jewish State’s surrounding Arab neighbors.

It was arranged for me to come to deliver a lecture to balance one given previously by the other side.

The Arabs and their supporters - often left-wing Jews themselves - were “loaded for game” when they heard of my invitation. But so was I.

I was a card-carrying member of the London-based Anti-Slavery Society, and persistent reports were coming through of slavery (and worse) still being practiced in Arab lands, the lands of some of the same folks screaming about alleged “Zionist racists”. I prepared a small booklet called “Look Who’s Calling the Kettle Black”, which consisted of about a dozen short articles dealing with the hypocrisy of the Arab position. I had numerous copies prepared for distribution.

I had some of my host students in the audience ready for action. They were in the company of hundreds who packed the lecture hall, including college officials, professors and so forth. Unlike some of the Hillel organizations elsewhere, the director at OU was on the ball when it came to these issues. My cadre consisted largely of Hillel members.

After my presentation, I had my usual question-and-answer session. That’s when the proverbial manure hit the fan. I was anticipating a Zionism-equals-racism question from the audience and, sure enough, I was blessed with one.

I calmly replied, “Since you are so concerned about such issues, I believe you’ll be interested in the packet of information you are about to receive.”

I then had my cadre pass out the “Look Who’s Calling The Kettle Black” booklets.

After the commotion and dust settled, and it was time to leave for my hotel, several carloads of Arab students followed me. Some members of my group decided it was best to keep me company that night. Think of the Danish cartoons and the Pope’s comment incidents today. The Arab idea of free speech is the same now as it was back then, and as it has always been.

The next day, before returning to my office in Columbus, I decided to visit the nearby famous boot factory in Nelsonville.

What I’m going to relate next may sound a bit melodramatic, but it was for real.

I was on one of the top floors of the factory outlet looking at brand-name dress boots. There was hardly anyone else there, so I was sort of isolated.

All of a sudden, I spotted a half dozen tall, Black men down the aisle from me. One of them then called out, “Mr. Hooonigmannn!”

After my experience the night before, I figured that my time on Earth was up. There were definitely folks at OU who wanted to kill me that night. I nervously stood my ground as they ran up to me.

And if you offered me a million dollars, I would not have traded it for the subsequent experience.

As they grabbed my hands, they said, “Thank you so much for last night. We had never heard or seen what you shared with us before.”

Should I be ashamed to tell you of the tears in my eyes at that moment?

These were not just any folks. These were students, sent by their countries, who would later go on to become some of those nations’ future professionals and leaders.

As I did on dozens of other campuses, through scores of other platforms, and in dozens of op-eds for leading newspapers all over the region, I tried my best to help change some minds - one at a time.

The struggle is as hard, if not harder, today, but those of us who care have no other choice but to continue in this ever-growing uphill battle for a bit of justice for the Jew of the nations.

At least 150 people died in a “heinous” wave of gun and bomb attacks in northern Nigeria carried out by the Islamist Boko Haram sect.

President Goodluck Jonathan condemned the assaults which officials said included at least five suicide bomb blasts and “directed security agencies to ensure the arrest of perpetrators of these heinous acts,” said a statement from his spokesman Reuben Abati.

As corpses piled up in the morgue, a rescue agency official, told AFP the body count stood at 150.
“I was involved in the evacuation of corpses to the morgue. I personally counted 150 bodies,” the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said at the hospital. He said some families had already collected their loved ones for burial, reducing the number to 97 by end of the day.
An AFP reporter counted 97 corpses still in the mortuary.
The Red Cross earlier said the death toll stood at 63, while police spoke of 53, of whom 11 were members of its force.
A member of Nigeria’s Islamist Boko Haram sect on Saturday claimed responsibility.
“We are responsible for the attack in (northeastern) Borno (state) and Damaturu,” Abul Qaqa told an AFP correspondent by phone.
“We will continue attacking federal government formations until security forces stop persecuting our members and vulnerable civilians,” Qaqa warned.
The Friday bomb and gun attacks, targeted police stations, an army base and churches in the cities of Damaturu, Maiduguri and two other small towns.
The military deployed to curb the violence in Maiduguri said there were four suicide bomb attacks in parts of the city, including an army base and on the outskirts of Maiduguri
The attackers bombed their targets then took on the security forces in gun battles in Damaturu.
“It was a suicide bomb attack at one of our buildings. The attacker came in a Honda CRV and rammed into the building and explosives exploded,” Lawal told AFP.
An AFP reporter said no office was still standing at the police HQ which was still smouldering some 24 hours after the attack. Three burnt cars lay in front of the building.
A journalist described scenes of chaos and destruction in Damaturu.
“In fact, Damaturu is looking just like Libya... burnt cars and buildings.”
In a mainly Christian neighbourhood of Damaturu called Jerusalem, six churches were bombed in addition to a police station.
“A police station and a mechanical workshop of the police were attacked. Six churches in the area were also bombed,” said resident Edwin Silas, adding: “The whole city is traumatised.”
The string of attacks came two days ahead of the annual Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.
Police have been placed on red alert nationwide.
Militants from Boko Haram, whose name means “Western Education Is Sin” in the regional Hausa language, have in the past targeted police and military, community and religious leaders, as well as politicians.
The sect, which wants to see the establishment of an Islamic state in northern Nigeria, staged an uprising which was brutally put down by security forces in 2009.
Nigeria’s more than 160 million people are divided almost in half between Muslims and Christians, living roughly in the north and south of the country respectively. Regions where they overlap are prey to frequent tensions.

Even anti-Israel ardent critic R. Goldstone admits the “apartheid” slur, is a lie, a slander!
Richard J. Goldstone, is a former justice of the South African Constitutional Court, who led the United Nations fact-finding mission on the Gaza conflict of 2008-9. He was quick to “accuse” Israel of “war crimes” in its (2008-9) anti-Terror operation (‘Cast Lead’). But retracted it after learning the facts.[1] In 2011 (Oct.) he wrote an Op Ed in the New York Times: “Israel and the Apartheid Slander.”

The need for reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians has never been greater. So it is important to separate legitimate criticism of Israel from assaults that aim to isolate, demonize and delegitimize it.

One particularly pernicious and enduring canard that is surfacing again is that Israel pursues “apartheid” policies. In Cape Town starting on Saturday, a London-based nongovernmental organization called the Russell Tribunal on Palestine will hold a “hearing” on whether Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid. It is not a “tribunal.” The “evidence” is going to be one-sided and the members of the “jury” are critics whose harsh views of Israel are well known.

While “apartheid” can have broader meaning, its use is meant to evoke the situation in pre-1994 South Africa. It is an unfair and inaccurate slander against Israel, calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations.

I know all too well the cruelty of South Africa’s abhorrent apartheid system, under which human beings characterized as black had no rights to vote, hold political office, use “white” toilets or beaches, marry whites, live in whites-only areas or even be there without a “pass.” Blacks critically injured in car accidents were left to bleed to death if there was no “black” ambulance to rush them to a “black” hospital. “White” hospitals were prohibited from saving their lives.

In assessing the accusation that Israel pursues apartheid policies, which are by definition primarily about race or ethnicity, it is important first to distinguish between the situations in Israel, where Arabs are citizens, and in West Bank areas that remain under Israeli control in the absence of a peace agreement.

In Israel, there is no apartheid. Nothing there comes close to the definition of apartheid under the 1998 Rome Statute: “Inhumane acts … committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime.” Israeli Arabs — 20 percent of Israel’s population — vote, have political parties and representatives in the Knesset and occupy positions of acclaim, including on its Supreme Court. Arab patients lie alongside Jewish patients in Israeli hospitals, receiving identical treatment.

To be sure, there is more de facto separation between Jewish and Arab populations than Israelis should accept. Much of it is chosen by the communities themselves. Some results from discrimination. But it is not apartheid, which consciously enshrines separation as an ideal. In Israel, equal rights are the law, the aspiration and the ideal; inequities are often successfully challenged in court.

The situation in the West Bank is more complex. But here too there is no intent to maintain “an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group.” This is a critical distinction, even if Israel acts oppressively toward Palestinians there. South Africa’s enforced racial separation was intended to permanently benefit the white minority, to the detriment of other races. By contrast, Israel has agreed in concept to the existence of a Palestinian state in Gaza and almost all of the West Bank, and is calling for the Palestinians to negotiate the parameters.

But until there is a two-state peace, or at least as long as Israel’s citizens remain under threat of attacks from the West Bank and Gaza, Israel will see roadblocks and similar measures as necessary for self-defense, even as Palestinians feel oppressed. As things stand, attacks from one side are met by counterattacks from the other. And the deep disputes, claims and counterclaims are only hardened when the offensive analogy of “apartheid” is invoked.

Those seeking to promote the myth of Israeli apartheid often point to clashes between heavily armed Israeli soldiers and stone-throwing Palestinians in the West Bank, or the building of what they call an “apartheid wall” and disparate treatment on West Bank roads. While such images may appear to invite a superficial comparison, it is disingenuous to use them to distort the reality. The security barrier was built to stop unrelenting terrorist attacks; while it has inflicted great hardship in places, the Israeli Supreme Court has ordered the state in many cases to reroute it to minimize unreasonable hardship. Road restrictions get more intrusive after violent attacks and are ameliorated when the threat is reduced.

Of course, the Palestinian people have national aspirations and human rights that all must respect. But those who conflate the situations in Israel and the West Bank and liken both to the old South Africa do a disservice to all who hope for justice and peace.

Jewish-Arab relations in Israel and the West Bank cannot be simplified to a narrative of Jewish discrimination. There is hostility and suspicion on both sides. Israel, unique among democracies, has been in a state of war with many of its neighbors who refuse to accept its existence. Even some Israeli Arabs, because they are citizens of Israel, have at times come under suspicion from other Arabs as a result of that longstanding enmity.

The mutual recognition and protection of the human dignity of all people is indispensable to bringing an end to hatred and anger. The charge that Israel is an apartheid state is a false and malicious one that precludes, rather than promotes, peace and harmony.[2]

Goldstone’s article anticipates the forthcoming “Russell Tribunal on Palestine,” to be held in South Africa. Named after the hearings held in the 1960s by philosopher Bertrand Russell in the United Kingdom to protest the Vietnam War, the Russell Tribunal will bring the emotive symbolism of apartheid to a make-believe judicial process whose outcome is already predetermined.

The chair of the panel, anti-war activist Terry Crawford-Browne, has already called for international boycotts of Israel. One of the star witnesses is Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, who conducted a reign of terror in South Africa’s black townships in the 1980s. Another is former U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney, who recently busied herself with propaganda for Muammar Gaddafi.

Despite the panel’s obvious lack of credibility, it will no doubt be touted by western leftists and third world governments as the basis for a renewed push at the United Nations to isolate Israel and promote unilateral Palestinian statehood. Goldstone’s op-ed is a timely rejoinder and the beginning of what appears to be sincere penance for the damage done by his slanderous report on the Gaza conflict of 2008-9.[3]

It is a falsehood to say that Israel is an apartheid state. This indictment, made by Mahmoud Abbas repeatedly in his speeches, is an Orwellian distortion of the truth, but it has been extremely effective in the public relations war of words that plays out in the United Nations, on the international stage, in the media, and on college campuses every day.

This is a grave and toxic travesty that needs to be made right. In light of the "Arab Spring" spreading seeds of sharia law throughout the Middle East, Western civilization needs to see the truth. Americans are being hijacked by propaganda against Israel...and not defending Israel's right to be a Jewish state will lead to our own eventual downfall.

The analogy of Israel to South African apartheid commands a response. Because of its catchy, slick word combination and its connotations that evoke vivid images of human unfairness and suffering, it has became a fashionable narrative for the media and international community's discourse. But it is not factual, and it is very deceptive.

Labeling Israel "apartheid" is meant to provoke worldwide criticism and elicit human rights-based anger that sanctions demonstrations, boycotts, and the denigration of Jewish morals. This finger-pointing is an intentional attack on Israel. It condones terror in the guise of "freedom-fighters," encourages prosecution of Israeli officials in foreign courts, promotes laws against Israeli goods, and supports boycotts of stores selling Israeli products. It sees the advantage of kidnapping soldiers, allows the destruction of Jewish artifacts and religious sites, and tries to exclude Jews from their legitimate claim to their historic homeland.

Factually speaking, apartheid was the policy of the South African government as a way of dealing with the white and non-white social, political and economic issues up until 1992. It was the official policy that established and maintained racial segregation and racial discrimination. The South African non-whites could not vote, and they had to carry a "Pass Book," or they risked being jailed or deported. By contrast, all citizens of Israel have equal voting rights. Arabs have eleven representatives in Israel's Knesset, including an Arab on the Israeli Supreme Court. Every citizen must carry an identity card, along with all legal residents.

In addition, non-white South Africans were kept from a wide range of jobs. They had no free elementary through high school education; mixed sexual relationships were restricted and segregated; hospital and ambulance services were segregated; they could not use most public amenities; sports were segregated; and public facilities were labeled for correct racial usage. Non-whites could not enter a building through the main entrance, be a member of a union, or participate in a strike. That is apartheid, and Israel is not an apartheid state.

Although many pro-Palestinian organizations are aware that the Israel-apartheid analogy is inaccurate, this rhetoric is continually used to condemn and isolate Israel. Just visit Israel to see the truth...Israeli Arabs shopping at Jerusalem's Mamila Mall, enjoying Tel Aviv beaches, enrolled in the universities, getting hospital care, going on school trips to the zoos, and having free access to public places.

One of the more outspoken defenders of Israel is Benjamin Pogrund, a Jew born in Cape Town, now living in Israel. Pogrund lived under apartheid, and as an anti-apartheid activist, he took grave risks by reporting the injustices against blacks. He often comments that the comparison of Israel to South African apartheid "greatly minimizes the oppression and misery caused by apartheid and is debasing to its victims."

In his rebuttal, Pogrund argues that "Israel is not unique in declaring itself a state for a specific people."

Everyone knows that Egypt is for Egyptians, Ireland is for Irishmen, France for Frenchmen, Italy is for Italians, Serbia for Serbs, China for the Chinese, Iran for the Persians...and the list goes on.

"Apartheid"-supporters substantiate their stance by claiming that Israel discriminates against Israeli Arabs by barring them from buying land.

The facts regarding land ownership are clarified by Mitchell Bard, the executive director of the non-profit American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) and a foreign policy analyst who frequently lectures on U.S.-ME policy:

In the early part of the century, the Jewish National Fund was established by the World Zionist Congress to purchase land in Palestine for Jewish settlement. This land, and that acquired after Israel's War of Independence, was taken over by the government. Of the total area of Israel, 92% belongs to the State and is managed by the Land Management Authority. It is not for sale to anyone, Jew or Arab. The remaining 8% of the territory is privately owned. The Arab Waqf (the Muslim charitable endowment), for example, owns land that is for the express use and benefit of Muslim Arabs. Government land can be leased by anyone, regardless of race, religion or sex. All Arab citizens of Israel are eligible to lease government land.

The reality is that both Arabs and Jews build homes illegally throughout Israel. And the fact is that the number of illegal Arab homes scheduled for demolition is miniscule compared to Jewish homes that must adhere scrupulously to the rules for fear of condemnation. The problems in Israel's Arab communities are much like conditions others face in various places in the world, but Arabs don't point a finger at those places. Only Israel is labeled and attacked as "apartheid." Arabs need only to look at their neighboring countries in the Middle East to find real apartheid. Does anyone honestly believe that Muslim women do not suffer from apartheid in countries with sharia law? Or that Christians and Jews in some Arab nations are being attacked and killed purely because of their religion? More pointedly, both Jordan and Saudi Arabia do not allow Jews to live there, and Saudi Arabia doesn't even let Jews visit.

There are many "no-class" citizens in the world that Arabs don't care to talk about. One must believe that Abbas just doesn't recognize "apartheid" as he declares that the State of Palestine will be "Judenrein" -- a Jewish-free state. Instead, the label of "apartheid" is stuck on Israel, keeping eyes focused away from the intolerance and bigotry that the PLO and Hamas preach.

Recently, I took issue with "Students for Justice in Palestine" (SJP), an on-campus pro-Palestinian organization that orchestrated the first National Anti-Israel Conference at Columbia University to "educate" students for participation in "Israel Apartheid Week 2012" on university campuses.

The SJP supports the Apartheid Movement, the Gaza Freedom Movement that tried to break the Israeli-Egyptian blockade, the BDS movement against Israeli goods, and a One-State Solution with the "Right of Return." There can be no doubt that SJP, hiding behind the veil of human rights activism, supports the end of a Jewish state while "freedom-fighting" terrorists try to accomplish the same goal through violence.

One question needs to be asked of all those who accuse Israel of being an apartheid state: if Israel gave up all the land rights, forfeited all of the natural resources, and agreed to a One-State Solution with the "Right of Return," would the Jews be able to live in peaceful coexistence with their Arab neighbors? The answer to this question determines the fate of the Jewish people and whether peace is ever attainable.

* Over the past several years, Iranian leaders most prominently, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have made numerous statements calling for the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people. While certain experts have interpreted these statements to be simple expressions of dissatisfaction with the current Israeli government and its policies, in reality, the intent behind Ahmadinejad's language and that of others is clear.
* What emerges from a comprehensive analysis of what Ahmadinejad actually said and how it has been interpreted in Iran is that the Iranian president was not just calling for "regime change" in Jerusalem, but rather the actual physical destruction of the State of Israel. When Ahmadinejad punctuates his speech with "Death to Israel" (marg bar Esraiil), this is no longer open to various interpretations.
* A common motif of genocide incitement is the dehumanization of the target population. The Nazi weekly Der Stürmer portrayed Jews as parasites and locusts. Ahmadinejad said in a speech on October 26, 2005: "In the Middle East, they [the global powers] have created a black and filthy microbe called the Zionist regime."
* Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who succeeded Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989, has made statements about Israel similar to Ahmadinejad. On December 15, 2000, he declared on Iranian TV: "Iran's position, which was first expressed by the Imam [Khomeini] and stated several times by those responsible, is that the cancerous tumor called Israel must be uprooted from the region."
* Michael Axworthy, who served as the Head of the Iran Section of Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, notes that when the slogan "Israel must be wiped off the map" appeared "draped over missiles in military parades, that meaning was pretty clear."
* There is an ample legal basis for the prosecution of Ahmadinejad in the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court for direct and public incitement to commit genocide and crimes against humanity.

Lie No. 1: The Palestinians were a sovereign people and nation until they were "expelled" in 1948.

Facts: The area known as Palestine was a province of the Ottoman Empire from the 16th Century until the British took control in 1917. From 1917 until 1948, the area was under British operational control and, later, mandate.

There was never a Palestinian nation.

Further, the population of the entire area, according to a 1879 Encyclopedia Britannica, was never substantial and was ethnically diverse. Any inhabitants there were concentrated in two cities, Jerusalem and Jaffa, and in the nomadic Bedouin tribes.

There was also a constant Jewish community. From the time of the first census in 1844 to the present, there have always been more Jews in Jerusalem than Moslems. Large-scale Jewish immigration during the Ottoman period made the Jewish community. It was only after the Jewish settlers bought land and made the area economically productive that the Arabs returned in significant numbers. Between the World Wars, the Arab population in predominantly Arab towns rose only insignificantly, e.g. 16,000 to 23,000 in Nablus. The population trends in the three major Jewish cities show a different story. The Arab population increased in Jerusalem by 97 percent, from 28,500 to 56,400, in Jaffa by 134 percent, from 27,400 to 62,600 and in Haifa by 216 percent, from 18,400 to 58,200.

The massive Arab immigration into Palestine during the Mandate period accounts for roughly 75 percent of the supposedly "Palestinian" population present at the time of the partition in 1948.

Lie No 2: Israel occupies historical Palestine.

Facts: Israel only covers roughly 25 percent of what used to be the province of Palestine. In 1922, the British government violated its League of Nations Mandate over Palestine by partitioning the territory into a truncated Palestine and a nebulous entity called "Transjordan."

In 1947, the United Nations voted to form two states out of what was left of Palestine, and the Jewish leadership pledged to abide by the borders. The Arab world refused and invaded.

As the world knows, Israel won its war and the ensuing armistice lines resulted in Israeli sovereignty over 20 percent of the land within the 1917 borders of Palestine. The remainder, the so-called West Bank, was grabbed by the Bedouin King Abdullah. For 19 years, he and his successor and grandson, Hussein, controlled the territory; at any time during that period either could have returned this so-called birthright to the Palestinians. They did not, and since none of the other Arab countries would grant full refuge to the refugees, they were dumped into policed camps.

Meanwhile, Jordan (the name was changed In 1950 is more than 75 percent Palestinian in population. Palestinians are prospering in that nation-in-an area comprising most of historical Palestine.

Lie No. 3: The PLO is a freedom-seeking, democratic organization.

Fact: Anyone who witnessed the tragedy of Lebanon from 1975 through last summer's invasion by Israeli forces saw the true face of the PLO. At best, it is a shadow organization in chaos.

The Lebanese gave refuge to the Palestinians and the PLO, and in "gratitude," the PLO established a state within Lebanon, mocking its sovereignty, murdering its citizens and slashing its social fabric.

The Lebanese have suffered enough from PLO democracy and freedom. They consider themselves somewhat lucky-a few more years of PLO freedom and guarantees and Lebanon might not have survived.

An American wit once said, "Trust everyone, but cut the cards yourself." Through all of the lies, the truth is coming out, and right will triumph.

FPM asks: Hillary Clinton Promises to Save Egypt's Christians? ... the guise of the "Arab spring" and "people-power," all hailed and supported by the U.S.—worked for religious minorities in the Arab world?

In Feb. Diana West wrote: "Islamic bigotry kept under wraps in Egyptian uprising." Especially at the brutalization and racist rape by Arab Muslim mob in Egypt of CBS journalist L. Logan (thinking she was Jewish) and the MSM silencing the story.

In May, the New York Times reported on the growing Islamic anti-Christian attacks: "Egypt's Christians Fear Violence as Changes Embolden Islamists." That "Coptic Christians, many of whom have felt less secure since Egypt's dictator stepped down, held a sit-in May 19 in Cairo."

Explaining: The revolution has empowered the majority but also opened new questions about the protection of minority rights like freedom of religion or expression as Islamist groups step forward to lay out their agendas and test their political might.

ETHNIC RACISM

Introduction:

From a 2006 article in The Guardian: "The race taboo,": The existence of racist attitudes within Arab countries is often denied, resulting in scandalous displays of prejudice against certain ethnic groups. The Arab countries, mostly are in denial. The A to Z of ethnic and religious groups in the Middle East embraces Alawites, Armenians, Assyrians, Baha'is, Berbers, Chaldeans, Copts, Druzes, Ibadis, Ismailis, Jews, Kurds, Maronites, Sahrawis, Tuareq, Turkmen, Yazidis and Zaidis (by no means an exhaustive list), and yet serious discussion of ethnic/religious diversity and its place in society is a long-standing taboo.
If the existence of non-Arab or non-Muslim groups is acknowledged at all, it is usually only to declare how wonderfully everyone gets along.

Explaining the scapefoating of black: Still, in a country with a long history of racist violence, it has become an article of faith among supporters of the Libyan rebels that African mercenaries pervaded the loyalists' ranks. And since Colonel Qaddafi's fall from power, the hunting down of people suspected of being mercenaries has become a major preoccupation.

Even the Arab-based Arab-biased al-Jazeera reported testimonies of "how race-based discrimination and violence, long an issue in Libya, had been inflamed by the war."

While the dictator did hire some fighters from sub-Saharan Africa, the vast majority of black Africans in Libya are entirely innocent immigrants, one million of whom are guest workers.

On the plight of Africans in Arab Egypt, UNHCR (October) says no more resettlement for refugees from Libya in Egypt...‎ For the Africans now stranded in Egypt, Ali, a Somali refugee who has been waiting for nearly a decade to be relocated, he warns that there will be an upsurge in anti-Africanism and racism toward the refugees who are barred from work and education in the country.

Black activists in October decried: "Why The New York Times Ignored Libya Ethnic Cleansing‎... Not Genocide If "Our Team" Commits the Crime."

When a major newspaper supports so-called "rebels," even though the signs are abundant from the very beginning that they comprise sadistic killers, radical Islamists, and anti-Black racists, what does it do at the end of the day, when the evidence can't be hidden anymore that the so-called "liberators" are in fact genocidal killers?

Now, it's getting much poorer, as black migrant workers from Niger are forced to leave neighboring Libya because of the color of their skin in the aftermath of the revolution there. Workers used to send money home to Niger from Libya, enabling impoverished family members to survive. But now these workers have been forced to leave Libya, where some black migrant workers were lynched, and many others have been rounded up and jailed in appalling conditions after being falsely accused of being mercenaries for the brutal, recently-ousted dictator Muammar el-Qaddafi...

Still, in a country with a long history of racist violence, it has become an article of faith among supporters of the Libyan rebels that African mercenaries...

Like you, I came to this conference, The Perils of Global Intolerance to protest this third Durban conference which is an effort based on a set of lies, and organized by nations who are themselves are guilty of the worst kinds of oppression.

Durban III will not help the victims of racism. It will only isolate and target the Jewish state. It is a tool of the enemies of Israel. The UN has lost its way. Its obsession with the Jewish obvious: . For over 50 years, 82% of the UN General Assembly emergency meetings have been about condemning one state - Israel. Hitler could not have been made happier.

Given all the good Israel does in the world, given its democracy and its striving to follow the highest standards of human rights, even in the face of the most brutal, the most fanatic enemies, the Durban Conference is an outrage. All decent people know that.

But friends, I come here today to make a different case. I come with what you might at first think is a radical proposition: I come to tell you that there are peoples who suffer from the UN's anti-Israelism even more than the Israelis. I belong to one of those people.

By exaggerating Palestinian suffering, and by blaming the Jews for it, the UN has muffled the cries of those who suffer on a far larger scale.

For over fifty years the indigenous black African population of Sudan -- Christians and Muslims alike --- have been the victims of the brutal, racist Arab Muslim regimes in Khartoum.

In South Sudan, my homeland, Sudan, about four million innocent men, women and children were slaughtered from 1955 to 2005. Seven million were ethnically cleansed, and they became the largest refugee group since World War II.

Everybody at the United Nations is concerned about the so-called Palestinian refugees. They dedicated a separate agency to provide for them; this agency, UNWRA, treats them with a special privilege.

Meanwhile, my people, ethnically cleansed, murdered and enslaved, are relatively ignored. The UN even resisted using the word "slavery" to describe the enslavement of tens of thousands of my people. Why? Because slavery is a crime against humanity, apparently no one committing it wanted to end up before an international court. When Khartoum insisted that the term "abducted people" be substituted for the word "slaves," the UN, caved to Arab pressure and agreed. Try that in America. Try calling Frederick Douglas an "abducted person." It is outrageous.

The UN refuses to tell the world the truth about the root causes of Sudan's conflicts. Take Darfur, for example. Who knows really what is happening in Darfur? It is not a "tribal conflict." It is a conflict rooted in Arab colonialism, as it has typically been practiced in Africa. In Darfur, a region in the Western Sudan everybody is Muslim. Everybody is Muslim because the Arabs invaded the North of Africa and converted the indigenous people to Islam In the eyes of the Islamists in Khartoum, the Darfuris are not Muslim enough. And they also do not want to be Arabized. They like their own African languages and dress and customs. They resist Arabization. The Arab response is genocide. But nobody tells the truth about Darfur.

In the Nuba Mountains, another region of Sudan, genocide is taking place as I speak. The regime is targeting the black Africans -- Muslims and Christians. This happened to the Nuba people before. In the 1990's hundreds of thousands were murdered; a large number of women were raped; children were abducted and forcibly converted to Islam. Nobody at the UN told the truth about the Nuba Mountains.

Do you see a massive amount of outrage and reports and protests about this coming out of the UN or Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International? Do you hear them condemn Arab anti-black racism?

Look at the pages of the New York Times, or the record of the UN condemnations, What you will find is "Israeli crimes" and Palestinian suffering. My people have been driven off the front pages by the exaggerations of Palestinian suffering. Why? Because what Israel does is portrayed as a Western sin that we are all supposed to address.

The truth is that the West commits a real sin when it abandons us: the actual victims of non-Westerns. Our suffering has become almost taboo.

Let me return to the topic of slavery: while there are issues that divide public opinion, we can all agree that for one man to own another is a sin, and it should be stopped. The Americans tore themselves apart over the issue of slavery.

Chattel slavery, a centuries-long practice in Sudan, was revived as a tool of war in the early '90s. The Islamist regime in Khartoum declared jihad, or holy war, and thereby legitimized taking slaves as war booty. Arab militias were sent to destroy Southern villages and were encouraged to take African women and children as slaves. We believe that up to 200,000 were kidnapped, brought to the North and sold into slavery.

I am a living proof of this crime against humanity.

I do not like talking about my experience as a slave, but I do it because it is important for the world to know that slavery exists even today.

I was only nine years old when I was made a slave. An Arab neighbor named Abdullahi tricked me into following him to a boat destined to Northern Sudan where he gave me as a gift to his family. For three and a half years I was their slave going through something that no child should ever go through: brutal beatings and humiliations; working around the clock; sleeping on the ground with animals; eating the family's left-overs. During those three years I was unable to say the word "no." All I could say was "yes," "yes," "yes."

The United Nations knew about the brutal enslavement of South Sudanese by the Arabs from the early days of the conflict. Human Right Watch issued extensive reports about the issue. These reports gathered dust on UN shelves. It took UNICEF – under pressure from the Jewish –led American Anti-Slavery Group -- sixteen years to acknowledge what was happening.

As soon as the Sudanese government and the Arab League pressured UNICEF, the UN agency backtracked, and proceeded to criticize the Non-Governmental Organizations that worked to liberate Sudanese slaves. In 1998, Dr. Gaspar Biro, the courageous UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Sudan who reported on slavery, resigned in protest of the UN's actions.

My friends, today, tens of thousands of black South Sudanese still serve their masters in the North and the UN is silent about that. It would offend the OIC and the Arab League. So much for "human rights for everybody".

As a former slave and a victim of the worst sort of racism, allow me to explain why I think calling Israel a racist state is absolutely absurd and immoral.

I have been to Israel five times visiting the Sudanese refugees. Let me tell you how they ended up there. These are Sudanese who fled Arab racism, hoping to find shelter in Egypt. They were wrong. In 2005, the refugees camped outside the offices of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Cairo looking for mercy. Instead, the United Nations closed its doors and left the helpless women and children at the mercy of the ruthless Egyptian security forces who brutally slaughtered at least 26 of them.

After this event the Sudanese realized that Arab racism is the same, whether it is in Khartoum or in Cairo. So they continued looking for a shelter and they found it in Israel. Dodging the bullets of the Egyptian border patrols and walking for punishingly long distances, the refugees' only hope was to reach Israel's side of the fence, where they knew they would be safe.

The fact that even Darfuris, who are Muslims, chose Israel above all the other Arab-Muslim states of the area, speaks volumes.. Israel is racist? Israel is against the Muslim world? Ask the thousands of black Muslim Darfuris who found shelter inside the Jewish state.

When I asked the refugees about the treatment they receive in Israel, their response is absolutely the opposite of what the United Nations alleges. They were welcomed and treated like human beings. Compared to the situation in Egypt, they described their lives in Israel as "heaven." No-one called them "abid" – an Arabic word for slaves often used in Sudan, Egypt and other Arab nations.

Is Israel a racist state? To my people, the people who know racism – the answer is absolutely not. It is a state of people of the colors of the rainbow. Jews themselves come in all colors, even black. I met with beautiful black Ethiopian Jews in Israel. Israel is a state that has taken my own black people in, rescued them, and helped them.

So, yes … my claim may be a radical claim: I claim that the victims who suffer most from the UN's anti-Israel policy are not just the Israelis but all those people who have to be ignored in order for the UN to tell its big lie against Israel: all those victims of non Western abuse, especially all those victims of Arab and Muslim abuse: women, ethnic minorities, religious minorities, homosexuals, in the Arab and Muslim world. These are the biggest victims of UN Israel hatred.

So far, the Israelis have only been cursed by the UN. But look at the situation of the Copts, the Christians in Iraq, and Nigeria, and Iran, the Hindus and Bahais and Sikhs who suffer from Islamic oppression. We all suffer. We are ignored, we are abandoned so that the big lie against the Jews can go forward.

Before I conclude let me tell you a story that reflects a special connection that the people of South Sudan feel toward Israel. In 2005, I visited one of the refugee camps in South Sudan. I met a twelve year old girl who told me about her dream. In a dream she wanted to go to school to become a doctor, and then, she wanted to visit Israel. I was shocked and numb. How could this refugee girl who spent most of her life in the North know about Israel? When I asked why she wanted to visit Israel, she said: "This is our people." I was never able to find an answer to my question.

On July 9 of 2011 South Sudan became an independent state. We achieved freedom despite the opposition from the Arab world and despite the United Nations, whose General Secretary, Bi Ki Moon, lobbied for the unity of Sudan. For the South Sudanese, that would mean continuation of oppression, brutalization, demonization, Islamization, Arabization and enslavement.

In a similar manner, the Arabs continue denying Jews their right for sovereignty in their homeland; and the Durban III conference continues denying Israel's legitimacy.

As a friend of Israel, I salute the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, who had the courage to state publicly that South Sudan embassy in Israel will be built--- not in Tel Aviv, but in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people.

I also want to assure you that my own new nation, and all of its people, will oppose racist forums like the Durban III. We will oppose it by simply telling the truth.

What the 'for life' culture is willing to sacrifice Vs the 'cult-of-death,' who sees an Arab woman's womb as the "greatest weapon..." Who loves "death as much as" we "love life."

While Israeli soldiers who are trained to practice restraint against those who announce/practice their attempted annihilation of every Jew in the region, the Arab-Islamic opponent through its "death factories," does every trick in the book to cause civilian casualties, sacrificing its women and children, for this "sacred' cult-ish idea/ideology.

On top of it, Israeli hospitals treat the very Arabs who are initiating violence, the same Zionist entity who practices 'affirmative action' on its (more than) equal Arab -minority- citizens.

The focus of this article is on Hamas. Operation Cast Lead would not have been needed, and indeed can be stopped immediately, if Hamas, a terror organization that calls in its Charter to the destruction of the Jewish State, were to stop its efforts to attain this goal.
Hamas has turned Gaza into a Factory of Death. I highlight below some of the Factory's main characteristics.
The war that rages on has its front lines in Argentina and UK,India and USA, China and Venezuela, Russia and Egypt. It is a war in the area of public opinion, and we are all soldiers in the Public Diplomacy Front.
We are all part and are likely victims in a greater struggle between Sunni and Shiite Islam to achieve world domination. Therefore, we need to understand the threat. Only then will we be able to search and find the wisdom and courage with which to fight, with which to prevail as a victor.

The 20th Day, a Recap and an Update
January 15th, 2009. Day 20 of Operation "Cast Lead," Israel's attempt at stopping the firing of rockets from Gaza to Israeli cities and preventing further armament of Hamas in Gaza.
To achieve these goals, the manufacturing infrastructure in Gaza had to be destroyed and the very intensive smuggling operation from Egypt into Gaza had to be stopped. The enormous caches of advanced rockets (improved Grad2 and others) must also be destroyed. They have a very long shelf life and will eventually be used against Israel.

There is yet another unstated goal: A 22 year old soldier has been held by Hamas in Gaza after being kidnapped from Israel on6/25/2006. Gilad Shalit is in enemy's hands for 930 days. He is afforded no visitation rights. The International Red Cross has not been allowed to see him. Gilad is the human face of Israel's promise to its mothers and fathers that their sons and daughters will always come back home that Israel will do everything possible to uphold this promise...

Operation Cast Lead rages on in Gaza. 9AM in Israel and already more than ten rockets and mortars were fired from Gaza toward Israeli cities. 11 soldiers were wounded during the night's operations during which 35 armed gunmen were hit, mostly in aerial attacks directed by ground forces.Israel's Air Force (IAF) attacked approximately 70 terrorist sites, including a mosque in Rafah used to stockpile rockets and served as an assembly area for senior operatives involved in launching rockets; 14 cells of armed gunmen; 14 sites used to launch rockets and mortars at Israeli communities and cities; five weapon storage facilities located in, and one tunnel located under, houses of Hamas operatives.

A Real War

This is war, although not by name (since Gaza is not a country and Hamas is a terrorist operation). People die, needlessly. "Needlessly" since the war can be stopped as soon as Hamas stops firing and ends its race for rearmament. There is a third unstated pre-condition: Hamas needs to change it Charter that calls for the destruction of the Jewish State. But Hamas does not want to stop.
Hamas also could have released Gilad Shalit any any point during the last 930 days or during the period of regrouping (Tahadia) that preceded Operation Cast Lead, but it chose not to do so.
Instead, Hamas uses the 22 year old Israeli soldier in the most cynical way, teasing Israel constantly. Now he is alive, now he is no longer safe. Now we do not hear or see him, next who knows what may be. Hamas's fellow Iranian crony in the region, Hizbollah, used Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, may they rest in peace, in a similar manner, finally trading in their body parts to force Israel to do the unthinkable releasing hundreds of terrorists, including one who for the pure barbaric joy of the act, smashed the skull of a four year old girl just because she was Jewish, just because she was Israeli, JUST BECAUSE THERE IS ISRAEL.

The Hamas Death Factory

Hamas does not only trade in the hope of parents to see their 22 year old son back safely, it also exhumes bodies from recently dug graves to parade them for hours at a time on Al Jazeera "news" network and on the internet as "fresh casualties." Hamas also constantly manufactures fresh dead bodies. This it does on both sides of the border firing rockets and mortar shells toward Israel to kill and maim as many people as possible,and firing from within high rise buildings, schools, hospitals and mosques,making sure to surround itself with civilians, so even with the utmost effort and consideration by Israel, they become casualties of war.

Hamas turned Gaza into a very sophisticated manufacturing facility of death. Every step is booby trapped, from buildings to chicken feed buckets. Tunnels are dug underneath to trap and kidnap soldiers as wellas to provide hiding and storage spaces. Sniper posts were erected near mosques. Ammunition and weaponry caches are stored in multi-story residential buildings. More than a million people act as a cover, an invisible protection for this Death Factory.

Hamas has taken the freedom away from the Gazans. It uses the Gazans who elected it into power as human shields whose life is to serve two purposes to add to the fight against Israel in the front of public opinion and to ensure that their death is highlighted, paraded and used to brainwash tens of millions of new fighters and haters of Jews, Israel and the West. Hamas thus plays a major role in the advance of radical Islam toward global domination...
A Manufacturing Facility of Death, a trap both as a physic allocation (step through a door, the house will explode; come close to a fuel depot, the whole village will be incinerated; fire at a building from which rockets were launched and secondary explosions of ammunition stored will cause phosphorus burns or inflict even more pain and death) and as a PR stunt (shoot from the UN building or from the building where the Foreign Press is reporting,and the whole world will be angry at Israel).

This is not a video game. It is a real life (and death) situation in which the points add in the speed of light in favor of the main player: HAMAS. Hamas's task is very easy: launch at Israel you win. Sacrifice your people you win. Improve the lives of your people? Hamas came into power since it-much like Hizbollah in the north-provided much needed social services, a support network to the local population. Yet,its schools and mosques served as indoctrination points, and the true purpose surfaced.

In the Manufacturing Facility of Death, there is no real interest to improve the lives of the Gazans. With the billions already spent and the billions now committed to the Gazans, one should ask oneself why is Gaza not the next Cannes-along-the-Mediterranean? Why is there no manufacturing (not of explosives and booby-traps and other death-related instruments),agriculture and science and technology?
Why are there still refugee camps with little if any infrastructure? What has the UN done over the past many decades when the palestinian refugees are its sole focus and reason for existence? Why has the Arab world not insisted on improving the lives of their fellow brethren theGazans and allowed instead the continued smuggling operation stockpiles of advanced weaponry, trained terrorists, Iranian experts in warfare into Gaza?

There is reason for this disparaging treatment. From its founding in 1932 until the present time, the party has fallen short in virtually everything it attempted. Quixotic conspiracies, foiled coup attempts, and unpopular ideological efforts won it a reputation for ludicrous impracticality, and for not being serious. It always remained numerically very small and never got even close to power. In the SSNP record, frustration far outweighs achievement.

But the SSNP's failures should not obscure the fact that the party has had profound political importance in the twentieth-century history of Lebanon and Syria, the two states where it has been most active. It provided the minorities, especially the Greek Orthodox Christians, with a vehicle for political action. As the first party fully to embrace extreme ideals of the inter-war period, the SSNP incubated virtually every radical group on those two countries; it had, in particular, great impact on the Ba'th Party. Finally - and this may mark the apogee of its power-the government of Hafez al-Asad has allied with the SSNP and incorporated some of its ideas into Syrian state policy.

The SSNP, founded by Antun Saada in 1932 and modeled after the Nazi and Fascist parties of Germany and Italy, is the most vicious and sinister of all Lebanon's parties, more so even than Hezbollah. Last week seven members were arrested by Lebanese police and several truckloads of weapons and explosives were captured. Ali Qanso, the party leader, defensively said “we are a resistance force, and we use different methods of resisting, among which is using explosives.” If the Syrians use Lebanese proxies to carry out bombings and assassinations, the SSNP are most likely the culprits.

The SSNP, created in 1932 along the models of the German Nazi Party and the Italian and Spanish Fascist parties of that era, is a Fascist Syrian nationalist party advocating a "Greater Syria" encompassing Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, Kuwait and Cyprus, and proclaiming the racial supremacy of the Northern Arabs ("the Syrians") over the Southern Arabs of the peninsula. Congress Hears Again About Hezbollah's Role in Latin America

Testifying at the hearing were Roger Noriega, former Under Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere and American Ambassador to the Organization of American States; Douglas Farah, Senior Fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center and a former Washington Post journalist; Ilan Berman, Vice President of the American Foreign Policy Council; and; Dr. Melanie Cammett, professor at Brown University.

Noriega also spoke about the Venezuelan government’s complicity in encouraging Hezbollah activities. A key operative in the Hezbollah network is the second highest ranked diplomat in the Venezuelan embassy in Syria. The man, Ghazi Nasserdine, along with two of his brothers, manages a network that raises and launders money and recruits and trains operatives to expand Hezbollah’s influence in Venezuela and throughout Latin America. One of Nassardine’s brothers maintains relationships in the broader Islamic community via a multi-national organization known as the Federation of Arab and American Associations (FEARAB) in an effort to spread Hezbollah’s ideas.

It is important to add to Noriega’s point that FEARAB has been in existence in Latin America since the early 1970’s as an entity organized to serve as a mutual aid society to immigrants and residents of Arab origin, even though it was founded with the help the Arab League. Yet, FEARAB has been radicalized in the last several years. Its leaders are making incendiary statements and decades of decent relations between Arabs and Jews in countries such as Argentina have met their lowest point as a result of such radicalization.

This shows the extent to which Hezbollah reaches out to local populations of Arab origin and mobilizes them. Nasserdine’s youngest brother is strengthening Hezbollah’s presence by recruiting adherents via the Circulos Bolivarianos, Chavez’s main political and social organization aimed at spreading and monitoring Chavez’ revolution at the local level.

Furthermore, Noriega added that the individual who oversees the parallel Hezbollah network on behalf of the Qods Force is Mohsen Rabbani, a high-ranking Iranian wanted by prosecutors in Argentina for his role in the 1992 and 1994 terrorist attacks against the Israeli embassy and the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires.

Noriega’s main point seems to be that the presence of Hezbollah in the region has metastasized. As a result of the support Venezuela, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia and others are giving to the terrorist organization, a more active role for Hezbollah should be expected in the future. Since the State Department has not given this issue the attention it deserves, Noriega believes the problem is further aggravated...

The IRFC-QF or “Qods Force”, which is Iran's elite unit within the IRGC and responsible for exporting the Islamic Revolution throughout the world, has engaged in terrorist activity in Latin America for quite some time. The infamous Tri-Border Area (TBA) between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay has long been considered a safe haven for various Islamic terrorist groups— many of which are funded and supported by the Qods Force of Iran.

Of the many Iranians implicated in the attacks during the nineties in Argentina, one individual stands out as having masterminded these attacks—Mohsen Rabbani. Rabbani is the former cultural attaché of the Iranian embassy in Buenos Aires.

Rabbani, who now heads the Oriental Thought Cultural Institute in Qom, Iran, currently has an extradition order and red notice from Interpol barring his travel to the region. Yet, Interpol's warnings have not stopped Rabbani from moving in and out of Latin America under false aliases as he visits his brother, who currently resides in Brazil, to help establish recruitment and proselytization operations throughout the region under the guise of “Islamic centers and mosques.”

In general, Rabbani's recruitment, training and proselytization operations are carried out by Iran's proxy Hezbollah. Through Hezbollah, Rabbani's agenda has been exported throughout Latin America reaching as far north as Mexico....

Brazil latest base for Islamic extremists

More than 20 Islamic extremists connected to al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups are using Brazil as a base to hide, raise money or plan attacks, according to leaked documents.

However, according to Veja he is also in control of an online communications arm of al-Qaeda called Jihad Media Battalion, which has a presence in 17 countries around the world and spreads communications from al-Qaeda leaders as well as publicising attacks.

Another of those named is Mohsen Rabbani, an Iranian wanted by Interpol as the suspected architect of bombings on Jewish targets in Buenos Aires in the 1990s that killed 114 people.

According to the documents, he frequently slips in and out of Brazil on a false passport and has recruited at least 24 youngsters in three Brazilian states to attend "religious formation" classes in Tehran.

The Terrorist "Professor"

One of the most wanted criminals in the world, Iranian Mohsen Rabbani, teaches "religious training courses" to lure poor rural Brazilians.

The man pictured– white beard, wearing brown, and his head wrapped in a turban — is the Iranian Mohsen Rabbani. Among the seventeen people who surround him are eight Brazilians. Rabbani is considered by these people to be a teacher. The classroom is located in the city of Qom in Iran, which is sacred to Shiite Muslims. Converts to Islam, the young Brazilians traveled, with all expenses paid, to deepen their religious knowledge. Recruiting or proselytizing is common to all faiths. In this case, however, distortions are disturbing. Rabbani is not a teacher either. VEJA revealed two weeks ago that, in addition to being one of the most wanted terrorists in the world, he is also responsible for recruiting young Brazilians for courses on "religious training." What this terrorist, named as a perpetrator of one of the bloodiest attacks in history and responsible for the deaths of over a hundred people, may be teaching the Brazilians is, at present, a major concern of the authorities. The clues uncovered so far to unravel this mystery are not encouraging.

"Professor" Rabbani is wanted for his involvement in acts of terrorism since November 9, 2006. His capture is considered so vital that Interpol has included his name in a so-called "red notice," the select list of most wanted people in the world. The international arrest warrant against Rabbani was issued by Argentinean courts. He is considered one of the masterminds behind two attacks on Jewish targets in Buenos Aires, which killed no less than 114 people in 1992 and 1994. Rabbani was an Iranian Embassy official in Argentina’s capital and not only developed, but also perpetrated terrorist acts. With diplomatic status, he is now protected by the regime of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — and responsible for the recruitment of followers throughout Latin America (see document on pg. 68), promising religious influence and also money. Rabbani’s effort to amass followers in the poor regions of Brazil with no tradition linked to Islam is noteworthy.

"Rabbani is a serious security threat, including in Brazil. In Argentina, he spread his vision of radical, extremist, and violent Islam, which resulted in dozens of casualties during the Buenos Aires terrorist attacks. Now, based in Iran, he continues to play a significant role in the spread of extremism in Latin America," prosecutor Alberto Nisman, head of the special unit of the Argentine prosecutors charged with investigating the attacks, said to VEJA.

The enticement of Brazilians for courses abroad has been monitored for four years by the Federal Police and the ABIN, the government’s secret service. It is Rabbani himself, with help from people he trusts, who chooses those who will travel. From 2007 until today, three groups of Brazilians have visited Iran. There are plenty of reasons for such surveillance. The course has, in fact, a strong religious content. But that is not what is of concern. Students from one of the groups of Rabbani have confided that, during these travels, they have visited the premises of the radical Lebanese group Hezbollah, considered a terrorist organization by many countries, including the United States. Reports to which VEJA had access state that the courses of Professor Rabbani are some sort of an entryway for terrorism. According to these documents, the classes include radical preaching and training in military camps.

180 kilometers away from Recife, in rural Pernambuco, the city of Belo Jardim is the most active center for the recruitment of extremists. Of the eight selected Brazilians for the first class taken to Iran in late 2007, four were from Belo Jardim. A brother of Mohsen Rabbani, who lived in Curitiba, personally took care of recruitment. Today, this Pernambuco city of 58,000 inhabitants deserves constant attention from the Federal Police and ABIN. Among the Brazilians are lured a taxi motorcyclist, a schoolteacher, an official of the Banco do Brasil, and an English teacher — all from humble backgrounds. Erlan Batista Machado, motorcyclist, had never been on a plane until the day he flew to Sao Paulo and from there to Iran, where he studied at the invitation of Rabbani. In Iran, he gained a new name: Sayd. Approached by VEJA, Erlan said he accepted the invitation because he wanted to know more about Islam. "It was a wonderful experience," he said. He said he never had contact with terrorists or with radical groups.

The reaction of Professor Joao Adriano Oliveira was the same when asked about the matter: "It was just a religion course." Joao Adriano, who teaches in a public school and is learning the Arabic language, was a natural leader of the group formed in Belo Jardim. Renamed Abw Husayn, it was his responsibility to make contacts with the brother of Rabbani and with Iran. Travel expenses were paid by a foundation coordinated by Rabbani and sponsored by the Ahmadinejad government. Joao and his classmates also received small amounts of money during their period of stay in Iran. They came back with a promise from Rabbani to donate $350,000 to build a mosque in the city.

Messages exchanged between the group intercepted by Brazilian police reveal that the goal of recruiting Brazilians and traveling to Iran involves more than spiritual enlightenment through religion. The messages contain evidence that the group and its leaders in Iran have something to hide. The report had access to e-mails exchanged by Joao Adriano (Abw Husayn) and Rodrigo Jalloul, a Sao Paulo resident who went to Iran for almost four years and remained there — today, according to our investigation, he is the right arm of Rabbani for matters that relate to clandestine activities in Brazil. In a message dated April 5 last year, Joao warns Adriano Jalloul, who planned to come to Brazil for a visit, of the existence of investigations into the group: "The Federal Police got involved in an investigation into Hezbollah money laundering. We can talk more about this some time, but I believe that, as of today, we have been monitored for more than one (sic). If you come, do it in a secretive manner, at the last minute, and only let us know when you are in the region."

The papers seized included an annex to the document illustrated in this report. They make reference to Hezbollah and reproduce fiery speeches against Israel and Jews. The students of extremism in Iran have brought along pictures of facilities maintained by the Lebanese group on Iranian soil – the itinerary included excursions to various regions of the country and visits to religious and political leaders. "It has nothing to do with terrorism. What we learned here is religion. Mr. Rabbani tells us that these accusations against him are all untrue," said Rodrigo Jalloul to VEJA. That’s not what those responsible for surveillance of terrorist movements in Brazil think. "Our biggest fear is that militants are being recruited for future terrorist attacks here, and for that reason we must redouble our attention towards these trips, especially because we will soon have in Brazil global events like the Olympics and World Cup, which can encourage these people to commit extreme acts, "said one of the authorities dedicated to the subject.

Along with the recruits in Belo Jardim, youth from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico traveled to Iran. The group’s ties to South America go beyond recruitment. The Federal Police has information that Rabbani came to Brazil a few times in recent years. In one of those visits, almost three years ago, he used methods that could cause a diplomatic crisis. The extremist embarked in Tehran bound for Caracas, Venezuela. From there, he entered Brazil illegally. Operated by Iran’s state airline, the Tehran-Caracas flight was called "Aeroterror" by intelligence officials for allegedly facilitating the access of terrorist suspects to South America. The Venezuelan government shields passenger lists from Interpol on that flight. Professor Rabbani's movements were being monitored. The idea was to detain him in Brazil. Notified, the Federal Police set up an operation, but the order to execute this operation took a while, due to a complicated discussion about the political implications. Once again, the extremist escaped.

Khaled Hussein Ali was born in 1970, in the east of banon. His hometown, Kamed El Laouz, lies in the Bekaa Valley. In this region, Ali, a Sunni Muslim, did his military service. Afterwards, he disappeared. At the beginning of the 1990s, he reappeared in Sao Paulo. He married and had a daughter. Thanks to her, in 1998, he acquired the right to live in Brazil. He lives in Itaquera, in the East Side of Sao Paulo, and supports his family with the profits made by a LAN house in the Vila Matilde neighborhood. Laid-back, he spends the day at the door of the business greeting people. Ali leads a double life. He is one of the leaders of the propaganda organization behind Al Qaeda, the terrorist group led by Saudi Arabian Osama bin Laden. From Sao Paulo, the Lebanese coordinates extremists from the Jihad Media Battalion in seventeen countries. The texts or videos by Bin Laden's disciples are released upon his approval. The rule also applies to translations of speeches made by the Saudi terrorist and to videos put up on the internet by extremists. Furthermore, the Lebanese national provides logistical support for Al Qaeda's operations. He is part of a network of terrorists that is wrapping its tentacles around Brazil.

Treated like a prince by his cohorts. Ali was followed for four months by the Federal Police before being arrested in March 2009. The agents knew how he operated, but they could not access the data on his computer, which was protected by Al Qaeda's encryption tool, Mujahideen Secrets 2.0. To get access to his information, the police had to grab his computer while he was using it. They used a simple strategy: the monitored Ali until he accessed the internet and telephoned him. They struck while he answers the call. The computer was full of files that proved he was a leader of the Islamic terrorists. His e-mails make it possible to reconstruct calls he made to Afghan guerillas, probably the Taliban. In January 2009 Ali ordered, received and passed on to addresses in Afghanistan maps and topographical charts of that country. Afterwards, he ordered his subordinates to get manuals together to help their “brothers in arms” understand the material. Two hours later he got a course produced by the al-Qassam brigades, the armed branch of Hamas, the radical Palestinian party that governs the Gaza Strip.

In February 2009, the Jihad Media Battalion was trapped and Ali was called into action to defend it. At 8:00 pm on the 18th of that month Ali got an e-mail telling him that one of his men had been arrested in Gaza. He was said to be being held by Mossad, the Israeli secret service. With the news came a request that Ali block access by his cohort being held to Jihad Media Battalion files. This measure would protect the organization's secrecy and keep its militant members anonymous. From Sao Paulo he “shut down” the captured terrorist.

On the same day Ali got a message telling him about another cyber-jihadist's computer that had been infected by spyware. This time he ordered his subordinates to spread the virus through spam in order to confuse the Western intelligence services. His efficiency in these operations was praised by a terrorist who identifies himself as the number two in Al Qaeda in Iraq: “You are proving to the crusaders (Westerners) that we are in their countries, and that they cannot stop us from operating in their territory or from talking to their children.”

In addition to the proof of terrorism on the internet, the Federal Police found spam on Ali's computer sent to the United States to incite hate of Jews and black people. Other files, which attacked President Barack Obama, were sent to conservative American groups to stir up political discussion. Contacted by VEJA magazine, Ali claimed to be someone else. This martial, however, allowed the Federal Police to charge him with racism, inciting crime and racketeering. He was not accused of terrorism because the Brazilian Penal Code does not make a provision for this crime. The Lebanese national spent 21 days in custody. He was released because the Federal Public Prosecutor did not press charges. Cases such this have further damaged relations between the US and Brazilian governments.

Twenty years ago the Brazilian authorities have known about – and ignored – reports drawn up by Interpol, the CIA, the FBI and the US Treasury Department about extremist activity in Brazil. The terrorist attacks against Jewish targets in Buenos Aires, which killed 114 people in 1992 and 1994, led to a review of the way the issue was being dealt with. The Federal Police reacted by putting together an antiterrorism service. Thanks to that, it was discovered that in 1995 Bin Laden and Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who helped plan the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 201 1, had been in Foz do Iguassu. Bin Laden's visit was revealed by VEJA eight years later. Despite the fact that the tentacles of terror have stretched further around Brazil, the federal government broke up the service in 2009. All the agents from the sector were removed, which damaged the investigations. Two months ago VEJA had access to reports drawn up by this team. Besides Ali, twenty militants from Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group and Egypt's al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya use or used to use Brazil as a hideout, logistics center, fund-raising source, and planning center for terrorist attacks. The reporters from this magazine also got reports sent to Brazil by the US government.

These documents allowed VEJA to find Ali and another four extremists. They live in Brazil as if they were regular citizens. One of them was sentenced in his own country. Hesham Ahmed Mahmoud Eltrabily has been identified in Egypt as one of those involved in the massacre of 62 tourists visiting the ruins in Luxor, in 1997. With an arrest warrant issued by Interpol, he was captured in Sao Paulo, five years afterwards. The Supreme Federal Tribunal refused to extradite him, claiming that the proof provided by the Egyptian government was not decisive. Now, the Egyptian sells electronics at the Galeria Pagé, one of Sao Paulo's main centers selling illegally smuggled products. VEJA passed on the content of this report to the staff at his store, but Eltrabily did not return our telephone calls. The Eltrabily case is similar to the Mohamed Ali Abou Elezz Ibrahim Soliman case, who was not tracked down by VEJA. Soliman was also sentenced in Egypt for his part in the Luxor attack. Arrested in 1999, the Supreme Tribunal rejected Soliman's extradition, finding formal errors of instruction in the process, such as the mistranslation of documents. Just like Eltrabily, he sells illegally smuggled products, but in Foz do Iguassu. As one of his cohorts, he is part of the Brazilian al-Gama´a al-Islamiyya cell, subordinated to Al Qaeda.

Accused of plotting terrorist attacks against the Jewish institutions that killed 114 people in Buenos Aires in 1992 and 1994, Iranian Mohsen Rabbani is wanted by Interpol but often comes in and out of Brazil without any trouble. An employee of the Iranian government, he uses passports issued in false names to visit a brother who lives in Curitiba. The last time this happened was in September last year. When Interpol alerted the Federal Police that he was in Brazil he had already escaped. But it is not only family ties that make this terrorist visit Brazil. The Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) has discovered that Rabbani has recruited at least twenty young people in Sao Paulo, Pernambuco and Parana states to go on “religious training courses” in Tehran.

“Without anyone noticing, a generation of Islamic extremists is rising up in Brazil,” says government prosecutor Alexandre Camanho de Assis, who coordinates the Public Prosecutor's Office in thirteen states and the Federal District.

In Sao Bernardo do Campo, in the region of Sao Paulo known as ABC Paulista, two Brazilians have been converted. Their stories were discovered by the CIA during the interrogation of one of the Al Qaeda leaders, Saudi national Abu Zubaydah, the man who convinced English national Richard Reid to put a bomb in the heel of his shoe and to try to set it off on a flight from Paris to Miami, in 2001. Being held in Guantanamo, Zubaydah was water boarded. In his book, Decision Points, Former President George W. Bush claims that torturing Zubaydah helped prevent other terrorist attacks. In Guantanamo, the Saudi jihadist said that he had welcomed the men from Sao Paulo Alan Cheidde and Anuar Pechliye to the combatant training camp in Khaldan, in Afghanistan. Cheidde is from a well-known family in ABC Paulista. His father, Felipe Cheidde, made one of the largest fortunes in the region in factoring, bingo and lottery houses. He became a Federal Deputy for the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB). A he owns a fourth division soccer club, Esporte Clube Sao Bernardo, he is popular in his city. His 1,400 m2 house is one of the most sumptuous in Sao Bernardo do Campo.

Even so, the connections his son Alan had with terrorists went unnoticed by the Brazilian authorities until 2004, when the CIA told the Federal Police. The US agents reported that Cheidde and his friend Pechliye had been asked to sort out Brazilian passports for members of Al Qaeda. Questioned by the Federal Police, both said they had lost their passports twice, in 2000 and 2001, and they could not remember the circumstances under which it had happened. Despite considering the excuse to be full of holes, the Brazilian authorities decided to release them. Cheidde told VEJA that his trip is a private matter. Pechliye did not return the reporter's call. One of the rare occasions on which terrorists were troubled was in June 2005. That month the Federal Police made use of Operation Panorama against illegal immigration to arrest 21 extremists. They were charged with criminal misrepresentation and altering documents to get permanent visas for Brazil. They did this by faking marriages to Brazilian women.

The radicals shoes single mothers, paid them R$ 1,000 to take part in the fraud and they recognized the children as their own. They formally became the parents of Brazilian children and so could not be extradited.

The gang was led by Lebanese national Jihadist Chaim Baalbalti and Jordanian Sael BasheerYahya Najib Atari, a prominent Muslim leader from Foz do Iguassu. With the gang, the Federal Police seized 1,206 passports issued by Portugal, Spain, and Mexico. Mostly stolen, these documents were sold for US$ 11,000 each to extremists wanted by the police in several countries to radicals who wanted to disappear without a trace. The organization run by Baalbaki and Atari was not restricted to Brazil. Kuwait has accused the Jordanian of associating with local counterfeiters to help jihadists escape. Most of the Islamic community in Foz do Iguassu rejects terrorism. Fugitives of war and terrorist attacks in their native countries, it is the main source of information for the Federal Police. On the Triple Frontier of Brazil. Argentina and Paraguay, radicals form a marginal contingent among the 12,000 Muslims living there. But this has not stopped Atari from presiding over the Arab Palestine Association nr from being a spokesperson for the community. Contacted by VEJA afterwards, Atari, who like Baalbaki is free while awaiting the court case on criminal misrepresentation, racketeering, and aiding illegal immigration, said he would not like to talk about the accusations made against him.

Atari audacity reflects the comfort the law assures him of. He and Baalbaki, besides being free, will only be extradited if found guilty. “Terrorists take advantage of the fragility of Brazilian legislation,' admitted Daniel Lorenz, former head of the Intelligence Department at the Federal Police and currently secretary of Security in the Federal District, speaking at a hearing in the Chamber of Deputies. The pair continue to do business in Parana, a kind of Wall Street for the jihad “The Triple Frontier is, today, a financial artery for Hezbollah,” wrote the director of the Director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the US Treasury, Arfam Szubin, in a report sent to the US Department of State, referring to the Lebanese group. This situation has been arrived at because of the refusal of the Brazilian government to face up to terrorism. In 2007 a group of Deputies tried to amend the constitutional article that rules on terrorism. It was defeated by the then national Justice Secretary, Pedro Abramovay. “He claimed that an anti-terrorism law would attract terrorists,” says former Deputy Raul Jungmann (PPS-PE). By this way of thinking, of lack of it, Brazil should abolish the laws against murder, theft and drug dealing. After all, they would also incite people to break the law.

Lenience with Islamic extremism is also a feature of Brazilian diplomacy, which does not recognize Hezbollah, Hamas or the Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia (Farc) as terrorists. In part, this is to do with an attempt to sell an image of Brazil as a tropical paradise armor plated against terrorist attacks. But it also presents itself as full of sympathetic from the left for jihadists, who are visceral enemies of the United States. An anti-terrorism law would also cover “social movements,” such as the Movement of Victims of Dams which, in 2007, threatened to open the stop gates at the Tucurui hydroelectric plant, and the Landless Peasants Movement which invades and destroys farms. “The Federal Police and the US government indicate the action taken by social movements as one of the main impediments to more effective combating of terrorism,” says Jungmann.

Although it has carried out the investigations described in this report, the Federal Police adopt an ambiguous stance when commentating on the discoveries their people have made. The institution is evasive, saying that it “does not label people or groups that in some way may act having been inspired by terrorism.” This opaque and incoherent message not only helps extremist organizations take root in Brazil but it creates great risks for the immediate future. Terrorist handbooks recommend that militants launch terrorist attacks on occasions when their actions gain visibility. The federal police and prosecutors interviewed by VEJA fear that they see such opportunities in the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.

1st STAGE (1992) – Brazil began to be used as a stopping-off point for terrorists like those who blew up the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, In 1995, Osama bin Laden and the third-in-charge of Al Qaeda, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, went to Foz do Iguassu, as VEJA reveled in 2003.

2nd STAGE (1996) – They began to establish themselves legally in Brazil. One cover they used to stay in the country was to legally adopt the children of single mothers. As official parents of Brazilian children, they could not be extradited.

3rd STAGE (1999) – Beginning of recruiting Brazilians. The most inclined to fight were sent abroad to learn more about the extremists' doctrine and to be trained in terrorist camps in Afghanistan.

th STAGE (2001) – Brazil began to be used as a terrorism finance base and attack preparation center. After the attacks on September 11, the US Treasury Department identified money being sent to Hezbollah from Brazil. One single militant set up in Parana sent US$ 100 million to this extremist group.

A wrestler, he learned jiu-jitsu in Rio de Janeiro and is always coming to Brazil to compete in the sport.

Crime: the CIA discovered that he laundered US$ 100 million in Paraguay earned through selling illegally smuggled goods and drugs on the Triple Frontier, and he sent this money to Lebanese terrorists between 2001 and 2003. He is on a black list at the US Treasury Department. After spending five days in custody in Paraguay, he escaped to Brazil.

Mohamed Ali Abou Ibrahim Soliman

The Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group

It wants to convert the Moroccan monarchy into an Islamic state. Founded in the 1990s, it supports AI Qaeda in North Africa and Europe. Its members get military training in Afghanistan. Its bombs claimed 33 victims in Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco in 2003, and another 191 in Madrid, the following year.

Islamic extremists currently operating in Triple Frontier area, Brazilian magazine says

Islamic extremist groups such as Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas are illegally operating in the Triple Frontier area shared by Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, where they allegedly gather large amounts of money, recruit new militants and plan additional attacks, Brazilian magazine Veja denounced.

The weekly publication stated that several reports by the Brazilian Federal Police and the US government warn that at least twenty high-ranking members from the three organizations are currently operating in the so-called "Triple Frontier" area, shared by Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil.

The Brazilian government has always denied the existence of any activities linked to these Islamic groups, but has admitted that a large portion of the Lebanese community living in the country legally sends large sums of money to the Middle East.

Also under investigation, according to the article published on Sunday, is Mohsen Rabbani, a former cultural attaché to the Iranian embassy in Buenos Aires, who is suspected of being involved in the 1992 and 1994 terrorist attacks against the Jewish community in Argentina.
Apparently Rabbani "frequently flies to Brazil under a fake identity in order to visit a brother living in Curitiba." According to Interpol authorities and intelligence agents in Brazil, his last visit to Brazil was in last September.

According to Veja, the ABIN (Brazil’s intelligence agency) found out that Rabbani took over 20 young men from the Greater Sao Paulo area, Pernambuco and Parana to a meeting Tehran in which they would be instructed on religious formation.

The article also assures that 41-year old Lebanese Khaled Hussein Ali, currently living in Sao Paulo since 1998 when he obtained legal residence after fathering a Brazilian girl, has coordinated Al Qaeda operations in over 17 countries from Brazil.

In 2009, Ali was detained and secluded for 21 days in a Brazilian jail after authorities raided his home and found several videos and emails that instigated hate against the Jews and black people.

Police authorities believed that Ali was one of Al Qaeda’s top propaganda men, but the Brazilian Public Ministry decided not to bring him to justice over a lack of evidence.

The magazine also states that the Shiite Lebanese group Hezbollah and the Palestine group Hamas also have a logistics operations centre in the Triple Frontier region.

Iranian Mullah Responsible for Terrorist Attacks in Argentina

Iran is investing in strengthening the political and economical relations with several countries in Latin America. It is also actively engaged in religious proselytizing, particularly aimed for the poorest sectors of the Latin American society. Converts to Islam eventually undergo religious and political training, including in Iran, to prepare these new adherents to become instruments and agents of the Iranian regime.

Mohsen Rabbani, an Iranian mullah and a former cultural attaché in Argentina, is a leading figure in spreading Islam in Latin America, particularly in Brazil. Rabbani, while in the service at the Iranian embassy in Buenos Aires, was involved in the planning and implementation of the deadly terrorist attack on the Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) Jewish cultural center of 1994 that resulted in 85 dead and more than 150 injured. Rabbani's involvement in the bombing was persistently denied by Iranian authorities. In 2007, however, Interpol finally decided to issue a Red Notice for Rabbani, which is an arrest warrant with a view to extradite.

Despite the arrest warrant, Rabbani, who is presently the director of Oriental Thought Cultural Institute in the Iranian city of Qom, continues, unabated, to proselytize in Latin America. According to Brazilian sources, he has traveled several times to Brazil under a false identity in order to recruit new converts to Islam. According to Argentine prosecutor, Alberto Nisman, charged to investigate the AMIA attacks in Buenos Aires, "Rabbani is a serious security threat, including in Brazil. In Argentina, he spread his vision of radical, extremist, and violent Islam, which resulted in dozens of casualties during the Buenos Aires terrorist attacks. Now, based in Iran, he continues to play a significant role in the spread of extremism in Latin America."

The activity Rabbani is developing in Belo Jardim, in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, where local police have found evidence that the recruitment of Brazilians, and subsequent traveling to Iran, involves more than spiritual enlightenment through religion, is particularly alarming. Along with the recruits in Belo Jardim, youth from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico are also traveling to Iran.

The Brazilian Federal Police has information that Rabbani, in one of his latest visits to Brazil, used methods that could cause a "diplomatic crisis." The Iranian mullah embarked a plane in Tehran bound for Caracas, Venezuela. From there, he entered Brazil illegally. Operated by Iran's state airline, the Tehran-Caracas flight was called "Aeroterror" by intelligence officials, for allegedly facilitating the access of terrorist suspects to South America. The Venezuelan government hid the passenger lists from Interpol on that flight. Rabbani's movements were being monitored, the idea being to detain him in Brazil. Notified, the Federal Police set up an operation, but the order to execute the operation took longer than anticipated, due to complicated discussion about the political implications. Once again, Rabbani managed to escaped.

In the 675 pages complied by the Argentinean Investigation Unit of the Office of the Attorney General on the AMIA terrorist attack, it is reported that one of the ways used by Rabbani to secure an individual's loyalty is to send them to Iran so as to deepen their knowledge of Islam.

One of Rabbani's favorite disciples in Latin America is Sheik Karim Abdul Paz, an Argentinian convert to Shiite Islam, who formerly went by the name, Santiago Paz Bullrich. He used to be the imam of the Iranian-run al-Tahuid Mosque in Buenos Aires. Now he is imam of the Islamic Cultural Center in Santiago de Chile. He studied in Qom, and became a leading figure of Shiite Islam in Latin America. He doesn't hide his sympathies for Middle Eastern terrorist groups and maintains that the Shiite group, Hezbollah, is not a terrorist movement, but a "fundamental part of the heroic worldwide resistance against the U.S. and Israel's terrorist imperialism". This, apparently, is what Rabbani is teaching to Latin American converts during his spiritual courses in Iran.

Rabbani brings Brazilian converts to Iran

The man pictured– white beard, wearing brown, and his head wrapped in a turban — is the Iranian Mohsen Rabbani. Among the seventeen people who surround him are eight Brazilians. Rabbani is considered by these people to be a teacher. The classroom is located in the Iranian city of Qom, a place sacred to Shiite Muslims. New converts to Islam, the young Brazilians traveled to Iran, all expenses paid, to deepen their religious knowledge. Recruiting or proselytizing is common to all faiths. In this case, however, distortions are disturbing. Rabbani is not a teacher, either.

The Brazilian weekly, Veja, revealed two weeks ago that, in addition to being one of the most wanted terrorists in the world, he is also responsible for recruiting young Brazilians for courses on "religious training." What this terrorist, named as a perpetrator of one of the bloodiest attacks in history, and responsible for the deaths of over a hundred people, may be teaching the Brazilians is a major concern of the authorities. The clues uncovered so far to unravel this mystery are not encouraging.

"Professor" Rabbani is wanted for his involvement in acts of terrorism since November 9, 2006. His capture is considered so vital that Interpol has included his name in a so-called "red notice," a select list of most wanted people in the world. The international arrest warrant against Rabbani was issued by Argentinean courts. He is considered one of the masterminds behind two attacks on Jewish targets in Buenos Aires, which killed 114 people in 1992 and 1994. Rabbani was an Iranian embassy official in Argentina's capital. With diplomatic status, he is now protected by the regime of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — and responsible for the recruitment of followers throughout Latin America, promising religious influence and also money. Rabbani's effort to amass followers in the poor regions of Brazil, with no tradition linked to Islam, is noteworthy.

"Rabbani is a serious security threat, including in Brazil. In Argentina, he spread his vision of radical, extremist, and violent Islam, which resulted in dozens of casualties during the Buenos Aires terrorist attacks. Now, based in Iran, he continues to play a significant role in the spread of extremism in Latin America," prosecutor Alberto Nisman, head of the special unit of the Argentine prosecutors charged with investigating the attacks, told Veja.

Rabbani's courses are an entryway for terrorism

The enticement of Brazilians for courses abroad has been monitored for four years by the Federal Police and the ABIN, the government's secret service. It is Rabbani himself, with help from people he trusts, who chooses those who will travel. From 2007 until today, three groups of Brazilians have visited Iran. There are plenty of reasons for such surveillance. The course has a strong religious content. But that is not what is of concern. Students from one of Rabbani's groups have confided that, during these travels, they have visited the premises of the radical Lebanese group Hezbollah, considered a terrorist organization by many countries, including the United States. Reports to which Veja had access say that Rabbani's courses are some sort of an entryway for terrorism. According to these documents, the classes include radical preaching and training in military camps.

The city of Belo Jardim, a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco, is the most active center for the recruitment of extremists. Of the eight selected Brazilians for the first class taken to Iran in late 2007, four were from Belo Jardim. A brother of Mohsen Rabbani, who lived in Curitiba, personally took care of recruitment. Today, this Pernambuco city of 58,000 inhabitants deserves constant attention from the Federal Police and ABIN. Among the Brazilians lured are: a taxi motorcyclist, a schoolteacher, an official of the Banco do Brasil, and an English teacher — all from humble backgrounds. The motorcyclist,Erlan Batista Machado, had never been on a plane until he flew to Sao Paulo, and from there to Iran, where he studied at the invitation of Rabbani. In Iran, he gained a new name: Sayd. Approached by Veja, Erlan said he accepted the invitation because he wanted to know more about Islam. "It was a wonderful experience," he said. He said he never had contact with terrorists or with radical groups.

The reaction of Professor Joao Adriano Oliveira was the same when asked about the matter: "It was just a religion course." Joao Adriano, who teaches in a public school and is learning the Arabic language, was a natural leader of the group formed in Belo Jardim. Renamed Abu Husayn, it was his responsibility to make contacts with the brother of Rabbani and with Iran. Travel expenses were paid by a foundation coordinated by Rabbani and sponsored by the Ahmadinejad government. Joao and his classmates also received small amounts of money during their period of stay in Iran. They came back with a promise from Rabbani to donate $350,000 to build a mosque in the city.

Messages exchanged between the group, and intercepted by Brazilian police, reveal that the goal of recruiting Brazilians and traveling to Iran involves more than spiritual enlightenment through religion. The messages contained evidence that the group and its leaders in Iran have something to hide. The report also had access to e-mails exchanged by Joao Adriano (Abu Husayn) and Rodrigo Jalloul, a Sao Paulo resident who went to Iran for almost four years and remained there. Today, according to the investigation, he is the right arm of Rabbani for matters that relate to clandestine activities in Brazil. In a message dated April 5, 2010, Joao warned Adriano Jalloul, who planned to come to Brazil for a visit, of the existence of investigations into the group: "The Federal Police got involved in an investigation into Hezbollah money laundering. We can talk more about this some time, but I believe that, as of today, we have been monitored for more than one (sic). If you come, do it in a secretive manner, at the last minute, and only let us know when you are in the region."

Fiery speeches against Israel and Jews

The papers of the Brazilians seized by police included an annex to the document illustrated in this report. They make reference to Hezbollah and reproduce fiery speeches against Israel and Jews. The students of extremism in Iran have brought along pictures of facilities maintained by the Lebanese group on Iranian soil – the itinerary included excursions to various regions of the country and visits to religious and political leaders. "It has nothing to do with terrorism. What we learned here is religion. Mr. Rabbani tells us that these accusations against him are all untrue," Rodrigo Jalloul told Veja. But that's not what those responsible for surveillance of terrorist movements in Brazil think. The police "Our biggest fear is that militants are being recruited for future terrorist attacks here, and for that reason we must redouble our attention towards these trips, especially because we will soon have in Brazil global events like the Olympics and World Cup, which can encourage these people to commit extreme acts."

Along with the recruits in Belo Jardim, youth from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico traveled to Iran. The group's ties to South America go beyond recruitment. The Federal Police has information that Rabbani came to Brazil a few times in recent years. In one of those visits, almost three years ago, he used methods that would be cause enough for a diplomatic crisis. The extremist embarked in Tehran bound for Caracas, Venezuela. From there, he entered Brazil illegally. Operated by Iran's state airline, the Tehran-Caracas flight was called "Aeroterror" by intelligence officials for allegedly facilitating the access of terrorist suspects to South America. The Venezuelan government shields passenger lists from Interpol on that flight. Professor Rabbani's movements were being monitored. The idea was to detain him in Brazil. Notified, the Federal Police set up an operation, but the order to execute this operation took a while, due to a complicated discussion about the political implications. Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas in Brazil

The Brazilian weekly, Veja, said several reports by the Brazilian Federal Police and the U.S. government warned that at least 20 high-ranking members from the three organizations -- al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas -- are currently operating in the so-called "Triple Frontier" area, shared by Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil.

Rabbani visits his brother in Brazil

Also under investigation, according to the article published on Sunday, is Mohsen Rabbani, a former cultural attaché to the Iranian embassy in Buenos Aires, who is suspected of being involved in the 1992 and 1994 terrorist attacks against the Jewish community in Argentina. Apparently, Rabbani "frequently flies to Brazil under a fake identity in order to visit a brother living in Curitiba."

According to Interpol authorities and intelligence agents in Brazil, his last visit to Brazil was in last September 2010. Veja reports that the ABIN (Brazil's intelligence agency) found out that Rabbani took over 20 young men from the Greater Sao Paulo area, Pernambuco and Parana to a meeting in Tehran in which they would be instructed on religious formation. Iranian Book Celebrating Suicide Bombers Found In Arizona Desert Fox News
Jan 27, 2011 – A book celebrating suicide bombers has been found in the Arizona desert just north of the U.S.- Mexican border, authorities tell Fox News.

The book, "In Memory of Our Martyrs," was spotted Tuesday by a U.S. Border Patrol agent out of the Casa Grande substation who was patrolling a route known for smuggling illegal immigrants and drugs.

Published in Iran, it consists of short biographies of Islamic suicide bombers and other Islamic militants who died carrying out attacks.
